Happy Ending Cantina — Restaurant in City Centre

APRIL 2025 UPDATE Upon our return to Cabo one "must do" list item was to revisit Happy Ending where we had a phenomenal experience in years past. But times change and so do businesses. We weren't greeted with enthusiasm but rather an "I'm busy" from an employee, and crass remarks from staff behind bar. From there, we were served tacos on stale tortillas with cold beef inside. But THE WORST was an ATTEMPT at a 451$ US card charge from Happy Ending. Google wont let me add photo but fraud alert attached on Tripadvisor review and others. Attempted theft at its peak. Thankfully our bank declined a 451$ US (not pesos) charge per our instructions, and was verified on a recorded phone conversation with Chase bank. Food quality low. Attitude poor. Attempted theft. I stopped by to ask manager and Gerardo why this happened and everyone said they werent there and didnt know. Really Gene? How long have you been in business? Watch yourself here. They lost us as customers and our hundreds of referrals, and hopefully this saves the reader from attempted theft. Mind you, we want nothing and asked for nothing from this business, we had only looked forward to a nice time but were dissapointed. Check your bank statements here. Original review below.

2023 We wandered into Happy Ending towards the beginning of our trip and never looked back, visiting 4 out of our 7 day trip! This became our preferred watering hole due to the insanely smooth double tequila shot (and to my dismay wasn't able to purchase a bottle at the airport-yes that good), the absolutely fantastic food (those amazing nachos, steak quesadilla and chicken wings were all a home run and incredible value). Loved watching sports, music, drinks and our barkeep Fernando was always on point). Cannot recommend this place more highly for a casual experience surrounded by both tourists and locals alike- dont forget to definitely check out the beer pong games occurring in back. We will be back...

If you are lucky enough to visit Cabo San Lucas you owe it to yourself to visit The Happy Ending Cantina. It’s very easy to find near the Marina. Ask just about anyone they will know where it is. My wife and I have been regulars for years. Try it once and you will be a regular visitor too.

The atmosphere is just plain fun, plenty of big screen TVs to watch all of your favorite teams and some TVs show great music videos to please all tastes. The restrooms are very clean and are serviced on a very regular basis to keep them top notch.

Happy Ending is fun for all tastes mild to wild without being over the top out of control. The security staff keeps a close eye out for problems so you always feel safe.

The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to remember you. The special is two double shots of smooth tequila and two beers for $5 USD all day long. Yep $5 no kidding. If you’re hungry they have a great menu of excellent dishes. We have tried just about everything and it’s all fresh and tasty. We have found it difficult to find a nice green fresh salad while in Mexico, no worries, they offer a couple of wonderful choices all at very inexpensive prices.

If you’re lucky the owner Gene (El Jefe) will be in the house to meet you. He is a very interesting man with a unique background. His knowledge of the early days of Cabo is also interesting.

Don’t pass on buying a couple of their colorful shirts (they are works of art) or visit the boutique. You will see people all over town wearing these T-shirt’s proudly, as do I.

What can i say negatively about this place… absolutely nothing. Bossman gene told us a bit of his lifestory how he ended up in cabo as he was walking around the bar making sure every single one of his customers was well attended, the prices are phenomenal, u can literally get crippled for ten dollars, very nice aesthetic, friendly waiters, the humility of the waiters surprised me, i only got a 5$ special (2 double shots of tequilaa & 2 coronas) but i was so happy with the place and the service i gave him a 20$ bill and only asked for the tenner back and he came back with full change as he seemed confused and even clarified with me, some of the other local bars do the bare minimum and even upcharge u and have the audacity to ask for the tip right there in front of you giving you no option other than too tip more than you already have, but here my man was fully grateful and seemed like he almost couldn’t believe it. 5/5 would recommend to anyone and i will definitely return on my next...
