Cruise Passengers: This is a must stop for tacos.
There are plenty of places to enjoy tacos in Cabo, but we found this place from a forum recommendation and were so glad we stopped in.
Set your expectations appropriately; this place is quasi indoor seating. There are no windows, you would be protected from rain and sun but not from most wind, heat, or cold. Do not expect to get a great price here. It is easily as expensive as restaurants in the US but the taste is what you’re going for.
What to order: Parrilladas. Get the Parrilladas. We had the Arrachera Parrilladas (hanger steak mixed grille). Ours came with skirt steak, a large block of cheese that was grilled (char on the outside, soft, hot, and melty on the inside). The steak was very flavorful, tender, and plentiful. It also came with onions, lettuce, tomato and avocado slices.
We also ordered four tacos al pastor which were fantastic. The flour tortilla I had with my al pastor taco is hands down the best tortilla I’ve ever had.
Everything was served with chips, a variety of salsa, a vegetable platter for toppings, and corn and four tortillas. The corn tortillas were very sweet, had good flavor, but struggled to hold all the delicious filling inside. The flour tortillas, were amazing. We would have skipped the corn and ordered more flour.
They serve Coke and water, but have alcoholic drinks that they run and get a few doors down. I was confused how this worked but saw other tables having success.
There were four of us and there was plenty of food with one order of parradillas and four single al pastor tacos. That order, with 8 cokes, over the 90 minutes we were there was $90USD. We felt like we got good value but were a bit surprised at the price relative to how the city felt and the picnic table open air ambiance. If I am ever in Cabo again I...
Read moreThis place was recommended to me by multiple people, so my friends and I walked here from Medano Beach to have lunch. I liked the casual/open-air dining vibes because we were all just wearing swim suits and cover-ups. The waitress was kind, but I think she was the only one serving people; she would disappear for a while before coming back and then I realized the restaurant was split in half. There was a whole other side with more seating, so the service was slow.
FYI it's CASH ONLY! We didn't have enough so my friend and I had to frantically find a bank ATM.
I like how they give you free sauces (I love the avocado sauce) and the divided platter of toppings (cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro, onions, pickled onions) to top your own tacos. I think this is super unique and wish they had stuff like this in the states. That being said, the tacos just come with the meat and tortilla. After taking one bite, I realized it was a flour and not corn tortilla, which is unusual for tacos. Normally they automatically come on corn tortillas (I'm gluten-intolerant). If you can't have gluten, make sure to ask for corn tortillas. I asked the waitress to switch out the tortillas but she said they were out, so I had could only eat the meat of my taco which was disappointing. I would give 3 stars because I just wasn't able to enjoy my experience as much as if I'd been able to eat the taco normally on a corn tortilla, however the meat was VERY GOOD so I know it would've tasted even better had it been on a corn tortilla. My friends really liked their flour tortilla tacos (some of them actually prefer flour tortillas to corn).
You should definitely get the lengua, shrimp, and carnitas taco. The meat was very flavorful and juicy. The horchata was awesome as well. Price point is...
Read moreI loved trying the authentic tacos that you can get at Tacos Guss. The restaurant is located near the marina and the downtown area of Cabo San Lucas so stop by if you have the chance for some delicious tacos. I really liked the shrimp tacos since the shrimp was so juicy and flavorful.
Food My favorite to least favorite tacos that I tried were the shrimp, arrachera, and asada tacos with a Mexican Coke. The shrimp was so juicy and flavorful. The beef tacos were pretty good as well but next time I might for the pastor. Honestly the flour tortilla for the tacos were the best though and better than any tortilla I’ve had in Seattle. A variety of sauces and toppings for your tacos come on the side so you are able to customize them taco to your liking. The guacamole and salsa were so fresh.
Atmosphere Casual and very open atmosphere. There are 2 entrances to Taco Guss, one for a smaller party sit down and another one with picnic tables that can seat up to 8 people. The noise level was pretty loud though because there are no windows that can close and the place is located by a road.
Pricing Tacos were about 3 USD each and are far cheaper than the tacos that I’m used to around Seattle. Portion was also good for the amount of food you get.
Service Service was good and the staff knew a little bit of English so that we could get thru the ordering...
