The food is decent, but pretty painful on the wallet; two fajitas, a side of cheese, an espresso, and a pineapple juice came to $54 CAD on my visa bill with tip. The bill in pesos was 733, so there's also an element of currency exchange involved, but even 733 pesos seemed steep.
The chicken fajitas by default don't come with cheese, and when we asked for some we were delivered a large bowl that was about the same price as a whole meal. Without the cheese, they were pretty dry; I think it's fair to call it a necessity. If I were going again, I'd ask for only one fajita for two people as the portions were huge (like, Texas sized) and we sadly ended up wasting food. I'd ask for cheese on top of the fajita rather than a side dish. They bring a generous selection of salsas and lime which were all tasty.
The chicken fajitas came with three strips of bacon on top. Just something to be aware of if you don't eat pork. We appreciated the variety it added to the flavour.
The service was great.
The pineapple juice was excellent, and the espresso was good but must have been bumped in transit so a significant amount had spilled on the cup and the handle; not the end of the world but somewhat eyebrow raising.
By the time we were halfway through our meal, we were surrounded by flies landing on everything. It's an open air restaurant so I'm not sure what they could do about it, but it...
Read moreHonestly this was just ok. I saw it highly rated on Trip Advisor and Google Reviews but I had better tacos on my trip to Cabo; definitely saw a lot of tourists dining here over locals. To start off the service was slow, and a couple times we made eye contact with our server trying to get his attention but he ignored us. Then my friend found a long piece of hair in her chicken tortilla soup. They offered to comp her meal and remake it so that was nice.
The chips and guacamole were good, and I liked the other sauces they provided on the tray. However, my tacos barely had any toppings and my chorizo taco was literally just meat and tortilla. Other taco places had platters with cabbage, pico, pickled vegetables, etc. but here there were only some peppers and cold grilled onions–not much to top my taco with. The chorizo was too salty, but the shrimp taco was succulent. The portions were pretty big; two of my friends had a good amount of leftovers from the fajitas and enchiladas.
The dining is al fresco for the most part; there is a roof but everything is open to the air, so it was a bit chilly dining at 9pm.
I liked the agua frescas; I recommend hibiscus...
Read moreFood wasn’t bad, but everything else was lacking:
The restaurant is open air so there will be flies everywhere on your food and around your table once your food is served. This makes it impossible to eat or enjoy your food. We took turns eating and swapping at the flies as that was the only way we could eat our food, some of which already had dead flies in it.
There are only two fans in the restaurant, which are the only protection against the flies. The restaurant manager and our servers promised several times they they’d bring the fans to our table, but they never did.
My order was messed up twice. I ordered a flour taco with no cilantro or onions. My flour taco came with cilantro and onions. They brought me a new one without cilantro or onions, but it was a corn taco instead of flour. At that point, I gave up on trying to get the food I actually ordered.
The sangria tasted like kool-aid as it was just watered down red wine and sugar water. No fruit or anything. Wasn’t really sangria.
I hope the restaurant builds closed cover or has more fans to at least solve the...
