Based on the online reviews, we stopped by Mariscos La Palmita on a recent visit to the marina area in Cabo San Lucas. I must say, the online reviews were on point. From start to finish, a 5-star experience!
The complimentary chips and salsa were very good, the chips from the bag on the counter were fresh and light, the salsa was super fresh and had a nice heat. We decided to try the bartender's "Cadillac Margaritas," and were not disappointed. Perfectly balanced, not to sweet, and plenty of bang for the buck!
We order the ceviche clams appetizer... the monster plate of clams were crazy fresh; in fact, so fresh, that when we squeezed the fresh lime on the clams they went crazy and danced on the plate ... delicious!
For entrees we chose the pescado veracrusano and the garlic lobster, both were amazing. The fish dish was huge, a classic veracruzano sauce on seabass, that also included ample pieces of fresh octopus and shrimp. The garlic lobster included a handful of lobsters, expertly prepared and grilled with a fantastic garlic-butter sauce.
The staff was awesome, Aurelio and Ernesto took great care of us. We were the lone touristas in the restaurant while we were there, and the constant flow of locals confirmed we had found a great spot. Higehly recommend Mariscos La Palmita when you're in Cabo... off the beaten path, but worth every step you take...
Read moreAs our taxi driver dropped us off, he commented that this was more of a locals' place and looked confused why 4 Asian American ladies would choose to dine here. It's because it was highly rated, and I love hole-in-the-walls!
After a day snorkeling/scuba diving in the sea/ocean, it only made sense to crave some seafood right? The people working there were so nice to us, and so excited that we were there! We ordered 2 different ceviches, 2 giant margaritas (they don't have a drink menu but you can safely assume that anything with tequila can be arranged), and a giant seafood platter. The combination platter came with 5 lobster tails, 4 filets of fish, 4 soft shelled crabs, and a mix of shrimp, scallops, and octopus. The platter was 1200 pesos (roughly around $60USD). Everything was delicious.
After dinner, the waiter came around with shots for us. I don't know if this is a "thing" in Mexico/Cabo, but he pounded the covered shots on the table 3 times, then poured it down our throats, covered our mouths with a towel, and shook our heads. LOL yes, it's weird, and the videos are hilariously bizarre, but it was a fun time and thankfully, we're...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Mariscos La Palmita because most other seafood places were closed around 8.30pm. It ended up being one of the best meals we had. All the dishes (mixed seafood cocktails, raw clams, grilled octopus, soft shell crabs) were all fresh, done to perfection and VERY reasonably priced. 4 of us had so much seafood and the bill was not even 20usd/person. PLEASE have the soft shell crab tacos, they are so good and cheap we had to order second serving. The waiter was so nice and genuine, he accommodated our orders even when the restaurant was closing. The next day we came back to ask them to cook the marlin we caught, and they quoted only 130 mxn (6.5usd) to cook our fish 4 ways, while most restaurants were quoting 15 to 25usd. They were done very well and we were so happy with their service. Please give them a visit and support the...
