CHICOJULIO fishtacos&chips — Restaurant in Mexico City

I don’t know what the heck went on in the kitchen today, but my fish and chips were gross; it was really disappointing, because I visited a few times this past spring, and they were always great. The fish had a lot of dark meat and I don’t think it was the dorado that they have used before, and the batter tasted bad and just slid off the fish. Such a bummer. The fries were bad too—tasted like old fish oil—and instead of tartar sauce I got this weird sauce that seemed to be seasoned solely with black pepper. I actually asked the waiter if there was a new owner, the food was so different...

Chico Julio's Tuna Tostadas can be put up against the critics darling Contramar's offering and frankly... Chico Julio would triumph. The Ceviche on offering is also top notch.

Service is courteous and the kitchen knows how to get the plates out efficiently and beautifully presented.

Chico Julio is small, has a nice outdoor seating area and....... Chico Julio has a music play list that many a club could learn from! Top notch tunes, from some well known to many a deep cut by artists not known to the larger public. *For me stopping by CJ is "Food for the Soul" in every which way!

Pésimo servicio. Quise ir porque hace un par de años trabajaba cerca y las hamburguesas de camarón y las papas estaba increíbles, así que llegué con mi novio y mi perrito y le pregunté a un mesero si podíamos estar afuera, me dijo que sí y me indicó una mesa que tenía disponible, era muy pequeña, en un rincón y a menos de medio metro de otra mesa que estaba ocupada por tres personas. Por medidas sanitarias nos pareció mala idea y le dije al mesero que esperábamos a que se desocupara otra mesa. Minutos más tarde llegaron 3 personas y momentos después se desocupó la mesa antes mencionada, le pregunté al mesero si podíamos pasar ya y me dijo que no, señalando a las personas que llegaron después de nosotros. Mi novio se acercó a preguntarle por qué no podíamos tomarla y el mesero respondió: "Es que ellos son 3". Pero llegamos primero y te pedimos la siguiente mesa que se desocupara (era del mismo tamaño que la que nos ofreció al principio pero no estaba en un rincón incómodo). "Ah... es que ellos tenían reservación" respondió el mesero, que francamente sonó a pretexto. Decidimos irnos. Fue muy decepcionante, de verdad la comida como la recuerdo era muy buena, es una lástima que el personal no lo sea y como siempre es más importante vender más que preocuparse por las medidas sanitarias pertinentes, el espacio no es tan grande y las mesas están muy juntas entre sí. Si saben de algún restaurante con buenas hamburguesas de camarón, me avisan, no pienso volver...
