I hate to write this in English even but in 3-4 years of living in CDMX this remains our favorite restaurant, so much so that on a visit we squeezed into bar seating at the last minute bc we couldn’t do without it!
Highlights - the Cornish hen is to die for every time do NOT miss it, they do their veggies VERY well, the aguachile is amazing The bread with anchovy butter is amazing They have a new addition of the oxtail which was a surprise to the menu, we had to try it We also tried the Brussels, kolrabi and endive salad, and aguachile. Very varied flavors to keep you really interested in the meal
The cocktails are also incredible, as dirty martini lover myself I always try to find the best dirty martini. Josue at the bar made us a dirty martini with pickle veggie brine that was honestly a delight if you are a dirty martini lover. I also loved the green river and the ships beautiful (for people who like savory drinks).
Their desserts are amazing also, never to disappoint. Follow...
Read moreoverall: 4.5/5 cocktails are yummy and not too strong. very refreshing and tasty!
food: 4.2/5 everything was pretty good (brussels, tomato soup, sourdough, aguachile, oysters) there’s a slight oomph missing that would bring it to a 5. Aguachile would be better if the shrimp was cut but the shrimps are whole and raw 😮 oysters were my favorite sourdough with anchovy butter could have more anchovy flavor to it - was hoping for that stronger fish taste tomato soup was mostly dairy free and impressively creamy regardless :) brussels were well done but a bit too covered in oil at the bottom of the dish
the ambience is fantastic, super cute spot where you can see all of and are connected to the kitchen. The staff are really nice and speak some english
we spent about ~$1500 pesos ($73 USD) for 5 appetizers...
Read moreGoing in blind to a restaurant in a different country is always a daring move. This place knocked it out the box with every suggestion Josue and Danny gave us, were not only mouth watering but thirst quenching. Josue’s mixology skills were excellent from the Necio with the touch of plum to the Pájaro Piedra with its taste of Passion Fruit, DELISH! Moving on to their suggestion of the Elotitos and the Coles de Bruselas exceeded our expectation with their Smokey flavors. For our main course the Rabo de Res was amazing have been slow cooked for hours. The Pork belly was crunchy on top and tender in the middle. We did order a Wagyu Burger and it was so juicy and easy to enjoy. Overall we will be coming back to Marmota when visiting CDMX. Good job...
