After a long and eventful day in Mexico City, my fiancé and I were in search of a place to unwind and savor a satisfying meal. Our cravings led us to Satoria Italian restaurant, and we couldn't have made a better choice. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu at Satoria offered a tempting array of authentic Italian dishes, and we decided to start our culinary journey with the Gnocchi and Pecorino. The dish arrived beautifully presented, and each bite was a revelation. The pillowy soft gnocchi, perfectly cooked and complemented by the rich, tangy Pecorino cheese, created a harmonious blend of flavors that danced on our taste buds. It was a delightful introduction to the culinary excellence that awaited us.

For the main course, we opted for the half Chicken, and it was a true masterpiece. The chicken was tender and succulent, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The accompanying sides were equally impressive, enhancing the dish with their delightful textures and complementary tastes. Each bite of the dish was a delightful journey that left us longing for more.

Throughout our dining experience, the service at Satoria was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our evening was nothing short of perfect. From recommending the perfect wine pairing to providing insightful descriptions of the dishes, their expertise and warm hospitality added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.

The ambiance of the restaurant was equally enchanting. The elegant decor, combined with soft lighting and comfortable seating, created an intimate and romantic atmosphere that was perfect for our evening together. We felt truly pampered and immersed in a world of culinary delights.

In conclusion, our dining experience at Satoria Italian restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. The Gnocchi and Pecorino, as well as the half Chicken, were dishes that delighted our palates and left us with memories to cherish. The outstanding service, inviting ambiance, and top-notch culinary creations showcased the passion and dedication of the talented team at Satoria. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic Italian experience in the heart of Mexico City. Thank you for a memorable evening. With love...

HORRIBLE SERVICE & mediocre Italian food!

Maybe if you have a reservation you’d receive some kind of service here. Even a waitress said so - no service if you’re a walk-in. Spend your money somewhere else. There were other Italian spots, that actually taste Italian in other areas of Roma Norte.

Horrible service (similar to what others have said in previous/current reviews)! We walked by the restaurant and it was fairly empty around (30% capacity) 5-530pm and we wanted to see if we could get an early dinner. We didn’t have reservation, but we wanted to ask if they could seat us since it was empty. They said we can sit at the bar area looking outside, which was fine since we didn’t have a reservation. It took them over 8 minutes to give us a menu, and that was after asking for it, then we had to ask again for their drink menu. Nobody came by and after about another 10-15 min we had to flag a waiter so we can put our order in. Now the restaurant was STILL at 30% capacity and we saw waiters just standing around and there were 2 attending a table just talking. When we got our food, they just placed it down on table and left right away. Nobody came by in the 20-25 minutes we had our food - not to ask how it was, if we want anything else to drink, absolutely nothing. And it wasn’t like the waiters were attending to others as well, they were just by bar/kitchen entrance standing looking down. Horrible service, regardless if we had a reservation or walk in. We were giving you business. We had to flag someone down again because nobody came at all, to get our check. And the lady who came to give our check and used the card machine asked how everything was, we said the service was horrible and that nobody came even once to ask how everything was/ask for additional drinks, even though it wasn’t even busy. She asked if you had a reservation maybe it would have been better….:she actually said that. We literally had no service…and I have never experienced that anywhere in Mexico City or USA or Europe…it was lucky someone brought out the food, I guess. But wow, even walk ins should not be treated that way.

FOOD: you can eat it, nothing special at all. The pasta noodle was soo soft, like ramen. The taste was bland, minimal taste - got the tagliatelle verde al pesto de...

Michelin star… OK. I suppose when a restaurant has a Michelin star you have higher expectations often of which those expectations are never met. That probably doesn’t make sense gramatically, but you get the drift.

And, don’t tell me that I can’t decant my wine! I will decant a two buck chuck if I want

Moving onto the experience. I dined outside on a pleasant evening. The weird and uncomfortable thing about the location of some of the outside tables are they sit directly near the window, which is common, but what isn’t common is, there is a raised dining bar, which looks directly down upon those tables. A couple initially sat there, but they also realized the awkwardness of it and then moved. No one sat there during my dinner. There are maybe up to 20 seats outside, and 20-30 inside. A guess. The interior space is modern , clean with a barrel ceiling. Very nice.

Service was OK, but what’s the deal about hoarding the decanters or do they only have one or two decanters. I ended prying one away from them, but it took a little effort.

Now for the food. It was very good not great. Flavorful, nice preparation. I don’t know about one Michelin star good but who am I to judge.

Food ordered: lasagne -339. Why 339? mallaoreddis de sémola al ragú- 347, heirloom salad - 315, croqueta de prosciutto-86 each, asparagus- 197 tiramisu- 185 (very good) and went for the cheap Nebbiolo - 1330. So an expensive evening.

Was it worth it? Depends who you are with, and if no one is looking down at you while dining and if the one decanter is not on use.

I would go back and dine again but may bring my own decanter.

Decent pics below, and...

I recently dined at Sartoria in Colonia Roma, CDMX, and have mixed feelings about the experience. The restaurant's ambiance is undoubtedly its highlight, with a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to linger. However, the service left much to be desired. The waitstaff's infrequent visits and somewhat cocky attitude were disappointing. The real letdown was the food. While the ingredients were of high quality, the dishes fell short in terms of flavor. The pasta itself was delicious, but the sauces lacked the depth and richness one would expect from an Italian restaurant of this caliber. The high prices were hard to justify given the overall dining experience. The appetizers were a brighter spot, with the beet salad and fried calamari with polenta being highlights. However, the portion sizes were surprisingly small, bordering on insulting. The raviolo, supposedly infused with truffle, failed to deliver on that promise, and the tagliatelle with mushrooms suffered from overly acidic mushrooms. On a positive note, the gluten-free pasta option was impressive, delivering a taste remarkably close to traditional pasta. In summary, while Sartoria has its merits, it falls short of its hype and recognition, particularly in terms of value for the price. If you visit, consider focusing on the appetizers and more traditional pasta dishes, don’t be fooled by the fancy explanations on the menu.

We discovered Sartoria by chance while visiting Buna, the excellent coffee shop next door. Drawn in by its stylish and inviting atmosphere, we were intrigued to find that Sartoria is a Michelin-recommended restaurant (not starred, but included in the Michelin Guide). We returned the following evening for dinner, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable meals we had in Mexico City. Every aspect from the presentation and plating to the flavor and creativity was exceptional. The attention to detail in both the food and overall dining experience truly stood out. The only downside was the extended wait for our check at the end of the meal. While we understand that longer waits are typical in CDMX dining culture, our experience bordered on excessive, taking nearly an hour and a half to settle our bill. It became difficult to get a server’s attention, which was frustrating and unfortunately put a slight damper on an otherwise outstanding evening. That said, I highly recommend sitting outdoors if possible. The interior can get quite lively, and the outside seating offers a more relaxed vibe—plus the added charm of occasional performances from local street artists. Overall, Sartoria is a must-visit for anyone looking for an elevated culinary experience in CDMX.
