Be careful with the so called 1 hour tour because is a scam, is not a tour it is a sales tour where they try to sell you a timeshare deal, so if you sign to go to that tour and don't show up they will charge you for it, like 2,000 dollars, and if you go they will keep you at a resort for 5 hours trying to sell you the package which is $535,000 pesos or 27,000 dollars, so be very careful don't accept the tour because they are great sellers and you are going to get scammed and is all the vidanta hotel group so other hotels are included this happened today 15,feb,2017 and the workers told me how they operate but they are not involved with the advisers or sellers, Im very mad about it but there is nothing I can do but warn other people. Sand- big, rough, brown grains. Never soft/powdery. Also, steep bank at water edge.
Chairs- packed together and right up to the steep edge. If you want to “walk on the beach”, you need to walk on the steep incline or weave between umbrellas and vendors.
Feeling of Nature- forget it. Might as well be at the mall.
Natural Beauty- views out to the water if you are in the first row of chairs, otherwise just looking at people next you and can hear every word of their loud, drunk conversations.
Water- kinda clear but brown. Calm near the pier but rough waves to the south.
Vendors- lots, but leave you alone once you say no.

Read moreOnly beach in old town Vallarta.. lots of choices in renting a chair and umbrella but prices vary from 350mxn.per day to 1000mxn per day...there is not a lot of totally public beach here but anything can be bought from the beachcombers...south end of the beach is the gay beach but nudity is not permitted...blue chairs area and green chairs are free for the day as long as you eat and drink from the hotels who own the beachfront area....
Important note though the surf is high here and the water gets deep very quickly...and there are some serious riptides at the beach...you often need to fight the surf to get into sellable waters...the ocean here is definitely not for...
