BLUF: Avoid Food quality: Without a doubt the blandest food we have ever had in Mexico. Meat had no flavor, tortillas tasted a week old and cheese had to been made from plastic.
Business Quality: Prices were slightly higher than typical but not enough to scare us from entering. Then the bill became twice what was expected. Items not ordered were brought to the table and then were charged at a higher price that most restaurants in the area. (Guacamole). The "special" Al Pastor was not only the worst I have ever tasted, it was nothing more than sautéed pork, vice shaved from a spit. That Al Pastor was also surprise charged at over twice the price of competitors serving the authentic way. Finally, this is the only off the beaten path Mexican place I have seen add a VAT in the area and a 30%...
Read moreWe were in Cozumel on a cruise ship, so we were only there for a day. we asked our taxi driver to take us to a good Local restaurant and Costa Brava is where he took us. This is a very quaint/cute place. The owner came out and talked to us as we were a large group. She was very friendly and helpful. She took our orders and brought us our food piping hot. The food was very tasty with just the right spiciness, and I do like spicy food! None of us drink, so she only asked us 1 time if we would like anything to drink. We ate, and sat there and talked with the owner for a good while. I would very much recommend this place. We loved it. It was a bit pricey, but we WILL go back next time we are in Cozumel, which will be in Sept of...

Our expectation was that the meal would cost less than or equal to the same meal at a local Mexican restaurant in the states (as most things in Mexico cost less there). The total cost was 2-3 times higher than that of an equivalent meal in the states. We felt that we were taken advantage of because we were tourists and did not speak the language. Maybe they charged $20-$30 dollars each for the Wi-Fi? Maybe I should have argued longer about the bill. The exchange rate they charged was not anywhere close to the current rate. ...
