El Foco Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

El Foco is a traditional Mexican restaurant, it feels like home when you sit there and enjoy the atmosphere of the open air kitchen and relaxed seating plan. It has been a part of the Cozumel scene since 1975, and they still use original board menus instead of table menus. The food is cooked with love, and is truly excellent. The staff are wonderful, very friendly (let you try out speaking Spanish, if you wish!) The drinks are delicious, too. Great margarita! They have a gorgeous resident doggo, too! This is the place to go for tacos and fajitas!my family was on a quest to find the best local food and this won our #1 spot. We came here in 2023 and loved it, so it was our first stop during our 2024 trip and it surpassed our memory - so we came back a second time during our trip. Our favorites are the margaritas, guacamole, fondido with chorizo, el foco tacos, pastor tacos, chicken nachos, and the fajitas. Food and mojitos were good but our experience wasn't the hype I had read about. My husband and I shared sopes de pollo and El Foco. I liked the dough of the sopes the best. The meat in both dishes could have been better quality. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday evening for dinner: we were the only ones there for most of the time and the staff was friendly but didn't pay us much attention.
