Read moreThis is a nice terrace on one of the streets adjacent to the Juarez square. The location is excellent, lots of people watching, nice breeze and outdoor seating.
The service is great, waiters are serviceable without being pushy, they are prompt and knowledgeable, multilingual and have a great attitude.
The food is very good. It is true that this is a place that caters for the tourists, and you should expect that give the location of the place. So if you are looking for an 'off-the-beaten path place where the locals eat...' then this is not it. But this is an outstanding bar with live music and the type of food that tourists like, cooked to perfection. Nothing healthy, of course, but that is not why you go to a bar in the first place. So if you want something vegan, bring it yourself.
The place is pet friendly, so there are often dogs on a leash by the tables.
There is live music and this is where Woody's could improve significantly, in my humnle opinion. Over many years, there have been a number of musicians who play live music here. There are some good ones and some not so good ones, of course.
On Fridays, there is Camila. She is an outstanding guitar player with a well-polished, gifted voice and overall musical talent as well as charisma. When Camila plays, folks passing by stop to sing along and dance. She plays at an appropriate volume, with proper entonation and hits the right notes every time. The atmosphere is 100% improved by Camila and her music.
And then there is Shane. She is, well, the absolute opposite of Camila. She can't play or sing but she tries to do so very loudly. When Shan plays, you cannot have a conversation, because she needs to be the center of attention. When Shane plays, people walk by faster. She has no talent or charisma.
Unfortunately, all that is good abut Woody's goes to waste when having to listen to the painful wailing of such an untalented 'artist.'
I would gladly give Woody's 5-stars is it weren't for Shane's...
Read moreI as a long time resident of Cozumel decided to take my guests to the island for a drink and some food at Woodys. There was the usual entertainment that pumps the volume to 11, but apparently that's a marketing ploy that really doesn't actually work well when you try to make an acustic guitar sound like a Fender Stratocaster.
The food was really good. But when the check came, I noticed that there was a separate upcharge for the margarita that my friend ordered. I asked the waiter as to why is the margarita charge of 7.00USD plus the prep of another 4USD? For a total of 11USD.
The waiter explained that because there was three liquors used to make the margarita, therefore the extra charge was added. I then asked him, besides the Tequila and Triple sec, what's the other liquor that was added to make three? He never answered me. However he did return with a new bill that showed an adjustment of the set up fee that was not charged.
I understand that an establishment needs to make money off their patrons, but please specify exactly why an alcoholic beverage is charged separately because of ingredients that are unbeknownst to the customer. That would rectify any problems that might incur to...
