Been here a bunch of times during my last 3 visits to Nepal. The coffee is okay and the prices are fair. The ambiance is pretty good.

But the service here just isn’t good. Sometimes it’s staff that intrusively pace back and forth next to your table, making concentrating on reading or whatever you’re doing difficult. It feels like you’re being watched. Sometimes the opposite is true, where you feel like no one is watching you or even knows you exist. Your empty cup will sit on the table for 20 minutes and no one will come around to take it or ask if you need anything else. Either way, service is very inconsistent.

The final straw happened when I went in there and decided to get an affogato for a change. As I was eating/drinking it I found something chewy. It was blue on one side and white on the other, and had a thin film of plastic. I took it up to the counter and asked them what the deal was. One employee (the one who I learned later had made it) just looked at me with an absent-minded smile, while the person at the counter got confused. Eventually he realized it was a piece of the packaging for the ice cream they used.

His apology was quite insincere, instead blaming the issue on a new employee who was training. Not sure what kind of training is necessary to teach someone not to include the packaging with the ice cream, but either way it was a lame excuse. He did offer to make a new one, but considering it was almost halfway finished and all that espresso/ice cream would go to waste, I said not to worry about it.

I had planned to read my book and have another coffee later, but I was a little grossed out so I decided to leave. When I went to pay, the same employee who helped me before offered no additional apologies and charged me full price for the affogato they screwed up and included plastic-wrapped cardboard in. Just awful customer service all around.

The better coffee shops nearby are often crowded, so I understand why you might be forced to come here. But I can say for sure I’ll never come back here and will try my best to skip the other Himalayan Java locations in Nepal, because they don’t care about...

The location is great especially for travelers from developed countries. However the service has been mid in my experience.

I usually would not put this sort of review because as a traveler, I have loved this location in the past. However there is a reason that I willfully avoid this location.

Some of the young baristas have a strange unexplained attitude. Maybe they have some mental health situations going on.. or it could be Xenophobia.. I don't know.

We were a group of four and we were served the English Breakfast 100% cold after about an hour and a half of waiting. There was no Hashbrown and we had to ask for forks, spoons, sugar.. all with about 10 minute gaps of waiting on a waiter who was both staring at us and on tiktok.

No apology, alterative or Refund offered

The bathroom has no soap. (Disgusting)

They played Loud Club Music on a boombox at a cafe at around 11 in the morning. (Just fyi: People wo come to a café are not interested in having anything to do with "clubs", disgusting)

The location has potential. But I really hope they understand that professionalism and authenticity is really the secret to growth in business.

I hope to give them another chance and I hope my review is...

The coffee and the cakes - 4 stars The management service - 1 star. Especially the manager on the counter. We ordered two cappuccinos and waited for almost 30 minutes. When we came to ask about why we need to wait we were answered rudely by the manager as if we were the one responsible for the delay. There were only 4 tables in the cafe at the time. And we’ve visited the same day another one of their branches and there, like most branches and visits, everything was spectacular.

Unfortunately the manager decided to blame the waiter, yell, and didn’t make the right thing which was to apologize or take responsibility.

definitely will not sit in this specific one and it’s a big shame they have someone ruining the whole experience for customers. If not for the bad management this place could’ve had the standard we had in all...

Himalayan Java offers its customers the best-tasting coffee beverages in the country. They have achieved this by using high-quality ingredients and strictly following preparation guidelines. Along with the espresso drinks, brewed coffee and teas, they also sell other refreshment drinks in their coffee bar. In Nepal, coffee is predominantly consumed in the form of instant coffee, which is easy to prepare. The consumption of Nepali/filter coffee in Nepalese society is so far limited to elite groups. The domestic Nepali/filter coffee market relies on the tourists, expatriates, and high-income citizens. The present situation of the domestic market is not stable, and it is highly dependent on international tourists. The sale of Nepali coffee varies proportionately with the change in the number of incoming tourists.
