Momotarou Pokhara — Restaurant in Pokhara

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

We got severe food poising from this restaurant…. We ordered takeaway because my husband and I are digital nomads and we were working from home.

The result of the infection made its way to our blood, we were supposed to leave Pokhara the day we got the infection and now we are in the hospital indefinitely.

Their response to this situation was “We’ve been operating this restaurant for 15 years and it’s the first time this happens” & “You shouldn’t have ordered takeaway”.

Completely bypassing and ignoring the situation and not taking any accountability or responsibility, forcing a big medical bill upon us for their negligence. We specifically asked for no chicken or meat and they sent a complete set of MOMOs with buff and pork… so this just goes to show that they are more interested in making money at any cost rather than actually listening to what their clients dietary needs are.

We believe it’s fair they cover our hospital bill, because it’s their responsibility, if they don’t we will proceed to take this establishment to court. They are continuing to put people at risk by ignoring this situation and they will react the same way if this were to happen to you. DO...

The menu is a masterpiece, offering a creative fusion of classic Japanese flavors with contemporary twists. I started with the Tuna Tataki, which was beautifully seared and melted in my mouth. The Momo Tarou Signature Sushi Platter was a highlight—each piece was crafted with precision, showcasing the freshest ingredients and impeccable technique.

For the main course, the Miso Black Cod was a revelation. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky, and rich with umami flavors. My dining companion had the Wagyu Beef Donburi, which was equally impressive, with tender, marbled beef that practically dissolved on the tongue.

Momotarou has always been a favourite place, even when it was running in another place. The current location does have a small but good parking area right in front of the restaurant. The food is great, the quality has not been comprised yet and that's the reason for us regulars to visit repeatedly. I think they do have good veg options too but we decided otherwise.
