Read moreTenpa was recommended to us by a family friend, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found him. We felt confident prior to arriving as we had constant communication with Tenpa, which was important to me, being quite young and anxious to travel for the first time without family. We received a detailed itinerary almost immediately after discussing our ideas, giving us ample time to ask questions and prepare thoroughly- both physically for the trek and in terms of packing and setting mental expectations.
Tenpa’s planning and organization made for a seamless trip, which was further enriched by his connections and extensive knowledge of the local culture and environment. He shared stories, explained local practices, and pointed out features of the landscape that we would have otherwise missed. This not only made the trek more engaging but also deepened our appreciation for the region and its people. So many people we met in the teahouses would approach us to mention how lovely our guide was- we truly had so much fun and laughter talking to and learning from him!
Beyond the trek, Tenpa organized unique experiences that would have been inaccessible on our own which was incredibly special. I personally appreciated his ability to brief us each morning in a professional manner yet still fun and friendly. This left us feeling confident and prepared for the day as we were never overwhelmed with information. At no point did I feel unsafe, and with his experience, composure and organisation, I know we were in good hands, especially had...
Read moreWithout an iota of doubt, Tempa is the best guide and companion I’ve been with in the 5 long distance hikes I’ve done in Nepal as well as multiple Backroads and Mt Sobek trips in the US and Europe. This is a report on a 7 day hike to the Annapurna base camp.
Operationally, everything went like clockwork. But that’s a small part of what made him awesome. He told me stories of the mountains, the people, the history, the food, the wildlife, and more.
Warm and friendly, he is an amazing spotter of birds and other wildlife .. among a multitude of things, I’d never seen a bright light brown mongoose before.
Every evening, he would demand that I stretch with him using each others shoulders for balance 😄 And he had noticed that I wasn’t drinking enough water (acclimatizing needs water) so every hour he would stop and ask my forgetful self questions about facts that he had told me .. and if I failed. I had to drink! 😂
He sings as he walks and one evening we walked into a teahouse with a guitar and clearly in his miss spent youth, he had learned to strum very well. And don’t miss the tattoo on his arm.
This wonderful man made every day of the walk a memorable experience.
With enormous respect, thank you for a fabulous trek Tenpa!!! Will be back. And I will bring the clan and send my...
