My first time in Nepal and first time for my partner back as a tourist, Pokhara was a beautiful first destination to start off our trip. Hotel White Pearl was promising at first and seemed to follow through with the great reviews I’ve read prior to booking with my travel card - we got the super deluxe room (606) which had an amazing view of the lake, Lakeside area, and partial of the Annapurna mountain. If I could base the review off the sunrise and sunset view alone, it would be 5++++ tara - however a few things towards the end of our 4 night stay clouded our experience quite a bit.
1 - Bloodstained sheets under a made bed - housekeeping was immaculate for most of our stay, everyday we came back from our daily adventures the bed was tucked and made. Our last evening, however (Friday), we lifted the covers to find fairly recent looking bloodstains that were definitely not there when we woke up and went out that morning. No worries, we informed the night shift manager on our way out to experience the famous Friday nightlife and came back a few hours later to changed sheets.
Had that issue been it, we would have chalked it up on a small laundry mishap but the next few things make it harder to ignore.
Huge cockroach! That scurried around the sleeping area just as we sighed relief at the changed sheets. We trapped it under a cup to deal with in the morning during check out with management as it was already very late and we had already brought up the sheets earlier.
Lack of transparency and accountability - upon check-out ~7am we discussed the aforementioned issues (everything was done in Nepali so there wasn’t anything miscommunicated) and was only met with feigned concern and quick pivot to offer us a car ride to our bus stop in lieu of the taxi we would’ve called ourselves. We paid cash to check out presumably for our laundry services done (should have been 350nprs per kg for our 2.2kgs) but somehow it came out to over twice that (no final receipt was ever provided as our rooms were prepaid). Requests to provide go unanswered.
Car ride to our bus stop turned out to not even be complimentary and we had to pay more than if we just called a ride ourselves.
Attempts to contact the hotel - email, phone and through my travel card partner service went unanswered and so this review is just to provide future travelers a heads up on what to expect should you experience any issues here.
That said, Pokhara and Lakeside was amazing - the food, shopping, and cultural sites were within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. We were here as tourists and ready to spend as such - we just wish that at the price point White Pearl advertised itself as, it would do better to improve their customer service so people aren’t just leaving with the thought of being “ripped off, but hey, at least we got...

Our stay at Hotel White Pearl was exceptional from start to finish—it's easy to see why this hotel is consistently fully booked. From the warm hospitality to the stunning room and unbeatable location, everything exceeded our expectations.
Right from the moment we arrived, the team made us feel incredibly welcome. Special thanks to Khem (Manager), Salina (Receptionist), and Aayush (Concierge/Floor Staff), whose friendliness and professionalism really stood out. There was also another staff member at breakfast—whom we, unfortunately, didn’t catch the name of—who was incredibly courteous and attentive (he had Chinese-looking features and deserves a shoutout too!).
The attention to detail across all aspects of the hotel was impressive. Our room, #504, was spacious, clean, and elegantly furnished, and came with breathtaking dual views—both the lake and the mountains. That was a wonderful surprise and made every morning feel like a postcard come to life. We’re so grateful to the team for securing this room for us!
We were initially worried we wouldn’t get a booking because the hotel is often fully occupied—and now we completely understand why. The location is perfect: just a short walk to Lakeside, close to the entrance of the Taal Barahi Temple, and steps away from where you can go boating on Phewa Lake. It strikes the right balance between convenience and tranquility.
The breakfast buffet was another highlight, offering a great mix of both local and international options. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and served in a comfortable and clean dining area. It's clear that the staff take pride in ensuring guests start their day right.
One especially commendable moment was during a Pokhara drivers' strike—Khem, the manager, personally helped us coordinate transport so that our plans wouldn’t be disrupted. That level of care and effort is what sets White Pearl apart.
Overall, Hotel White Pearl offers the perfect blend of comfort, location, hospitality, and views. We felt well cared for and genuinely appreciated throughout our stay. We will absolutely consider staying here again on our next trip to Nepal—Pokhara wouldn’t feel complete without a return...
Read moreMOST PATHETIC HOTEL IN THE WORLD I HAVE EVER LIVED IN!! WHILE CHECKING IN, WE HAD BOOKED LAKE AND MOUNTAIN FACING ROOM - FOR WHICH WE HAD PAID EXTRA. UPON REACHING, THE STAFF TOLD US THAT THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH ROOMS OF THAT CATEGORY AND THEY WILL BE GIVING US OTHER SIMILAR ROOMS. WE SAID WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE ROOMS FIRST. THE STAFF THOUGHT WE WERE ILLITERATES AND DID NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IN DELUXE AND SUPER DELUXE ROOMS. THEY SHOULD US DELUXE ROOMS AND TOLD US IT WAS THE SUPER DELUXE. UPON SHOWING THEM WHAT DELUXE AND SUPER DELUXE ROOMS ARE ON THEIR WEBSITE, THEY FINALLY GAVE US SUPER DELUXE ROOMS - WHICH WERE CHEAPER THAN THE MOUNTAIN / LAKE VIEW ROOMS. ALL THIS TOOK US ABOUT 1-1.5 HOURS AND WE HAD INFORMED THE STAFF THERE THAT WE WILL CHECK OUT 1.5 HOURS LATE SINCE ALL THIS HAD TAKEN SO LONG. THEY SHOULD HAVE ACTUALLY TOLD THIS TO US BY THEMSELVES, BUT DINT! ANYHOW, NEXT DAY, WHEN WE WERE CHECKING OUT, A STAFF BY THE NAME OF AMIRA, STARTED YELLING. I WAS AT FIRST SURPRISED AND COULD NOT EVEN IMAGINE A PERSON COULD TALK TO THEIR CUSTOMER IN THIS MANNER. SO I ASKED "ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?" AND SHE YELLED YES!! HER COMMENTS WERE "YOU INDIANS ARE IDIOTS" "THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO BEHAVE" "HAVE SOME SHAME" "WE GET FED UP WHENEVER ANY INDIANS WHO COME HERE" "THIS IS NOT YOUR HOUSE" "I WILL CALL THE POLICE" ALL THE ABOVE COMMENTS WERE TOLD BY HER IN A VERY VERY LOUD VOICE! WE AT FIRST WERE QUIETE AND I BEING A MALE DID NOT WANT TO RAISE MY VOICE ON A LADY. 2 FEMALE FRIENDS FROM OUR GROUP LOST THEIR COOL AND STARTED YELLING BACK. THE MANAGER WHO WAS LISTENING TO ALL THIS WAS JUST QUIETE AND DID NOT UTTER A WORD. FINALLY, WHILE SHE WAS ARGUING, WE LOST OUR PATIENCE AND TOLD THEM NOW WE WILL CALL THE COPS! THIS IS NOT THE WAY YOU SPEAK TO YOUR CLIENTS! YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN US A REFUND FOR THE ROOMS WE HAD PAID! SHE IS DISCRIMINATING INDIANS! THE WORSE HOTEL I HAVE EVER SEEN IN...
