Burger Zaken Oudezijds Voorburgwal Amsterdam — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Negative experience here tonight. When asked for a glass of tap water (virtually no charge for the restaurant), they gave me a bottle that wasn't even cold. I asked them how much, and they said 3,9 euro. I gave it back to them and instead asked to have my water bottle refilled with water. They got very upset and said I can't just choose to not pay. They could have politely declined, but I felt they were rude about it.

Next, my boyfriend ordered the holland smash burger, which in the menu says it comes with two pattys since it labeled as a "double smash burger with...". But it came with one patty. Now this wouldn't be too big of an issue, but for some more context I ordered the single smash burger. When we both had our orders and tried pointing this out, they tried saying MINE was my boyfriend's burger... trying to trick us? Not sure. But either way they both had one patty when one of them should have had two. He then left after saying my burger was switched and never addressed it again.

After this interaction with the server and some confusion amongst ourselves, we looked over and noticed a couple talking negatively about us. We could tell by body language. I felt very awkward in the restaurant and just wanted to pay and leave.

In the end we explained it to another colleague and he kindly adjusted the charges. I know there's a language barrier and mistakes happen, but I felt uncomfortable and out of place here because of these interactions.

I had the most awful experience at this place. I was there with a group of friends and first we started by having some drinks and snacks. The service was good, nothing to complain. After that we went for a boat tour which can be taken right next to this place. After the boat tour we had plans to come back and have dinner there as it was close to where we were staying and because we had a nice service just before that. Once I hopped off the boat, I had an urge to go to the toilet as I’m pregnant and went ahead of the group straight to the toilets as I used them before. A very angry man came right after me, I don’t know if he was a waiter or bartender but he was verbally abusing me, shouting and calling me names for going to the toilet. My friend which was right before me offered to immediately pay/order drinks but he was so adamant and still denied me to use the toilet. Even the romanian waiter that served us tried to assure him that he knew us and that’s ok but he still refused. I left the place in tears not being able to say something as I was so affected. I really appreciate the romanian waiter because he apologised for his colleague’s behaviour. This type of people who think that they run the place can affect the reputation of your business slowly but surely. He ruined the last night in Amsterdam for me. If his job was to guard the toilet he did a great job 10/10, a true toilet warrior, but I think his job was to take care of the customers but he...

Overall a horrendously poor experience. The staff were incredibly rude, after ordering our food, the fork and knives were thrown on the table. Very little eye contact or even simply a greeting. After 20 minutes of waiting (the restaurant was almost empty), one of the burgers was without red onion - even though it was clearly ordered and stated. The waiter brings over a handful a onion on a plate, with no apology. I then requested another burger, as me and my friends were getting very annoyed and agitated by this point. He refused to change the burger, so instead said I didn't have to pay for the onion. Anyway, we paid and split the bill between us - in which the chef/kassa operator(?!) continued to make one of us pay the onion (extra 1,35.)
