Dam Square Souvenirs — Local services in Amsterdam

It's a good one stop shop for souvenirs, there is a wide selection, and it's very easy to navigate, but most of the standard souvenir items are cheaper elsewhere. There are some great finds here though - I picked up some really cool Dutch Christmas decorations for a pretty good price.

I have to agree with the other negative reviews that reference poor customer service here and 100% Holland (they're the same store). I did encounter some rudeness from the staff, but it wasn't enough to make me want to leave the store. That being said, the person who served me did a great job wrapping up my items, I felt very confident in their packaging and wasn't worried about damage at all for my flight home. She also offered stamps for my postcards (something I had forgotten about and saved me a lot of time).

Overall, I recommend this store if you just want a single place to do souvenir shopping. Just be prepared to pay a little more for some...

I walked to the cashier after 5 minutes in line but was told didn't see me in queue. I explained and asked people behind me to help me proved that. But the staff helplessly replied "Well, we will help you check out ok?" The attitude was as if the staff was forced to collect money in order not to avoid arguing with me.

I especially don't like the behavior of jumping in line, so I definitely didn't do that. I explained because I did't want to be wrong defined morally and not for the sake of arguing. If I hadn't bought souvenirs for my friends, I would have asked everyone to sit down and check the monitoring record slowly. I came from Germany, Amsterdam is a beautiful and cultural city. Great shop. Great selection and cute products. Nice place to pick up souvenirs.

After I left the store I realized that one of the plate boxes that I had selected was actually empty. I was unable to get back to the store but figured I would email a copy of my receipt and photo of the box which I later saw was marked empty. Not sure how I didn’t notice but we were in a bit of a rush leaving.

Fast forward. They received my email and so generously replaced the plate for me. I can’t wait to come by again next time...
