The museum was good but felt somewhat underwhelming, with exhibits that relied on broad generalisations rather than providing specific, detailed statistics. This approach made it difficult to feel fully engaged with the displays. The books on the third floor were really informative though.
During my visit, I experienced an interruption that detracted from my experience. While listening to the audio guide on a bench and taking my time to absorb the information in a position I found comfortable, I was told to "sit properly.” I sat up and complied. Later another staff member returned and said it wasn’t good enough - because I was sitting cross-legged. The concern seemed to be that my posture might discourage others from using the bench, though no one had shown any interest in sitting there even before I did. In fact people were flying through the museum. As a paying visitor, I felt it was unnecessary—and frankly a bit rude—for the staff to dictate how I should sit when I wasn’t causing any disturbance or taking up anymore space then if I didn’t sit cross-legged. Felt a bit moot. I was told there was a “lounge area” on the third floor and meant I was ultimately unable to finish reading the second level texts because I was told to move along. So I don’t know what the remaining information was.
However the information provided by the first staff member on floor 3 was really helpful when I asked a series of questions. He explained everything really well, was pleasant to deal with and gave some great...
Read moreWe took our family for a true christmas Amsterdam experience, we stayed on the canal and went to the museum amongst other tourist attractions, we chose the museum, due to the fact it was a museum and that the equipment was provided to try products, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend it however, the reason for my x1 star is due to fact the plants growing in the museum are horrendous, our children are all grown and knowledgeable about the plants, even they were surprised about the extremely poor quality of plants grown, the staff were absolutely amazing and due to that we returned for the next x3 days before flying home, on talking to staff and managers i was informed an infection had damaged the plants and that they were recovering, my only concern with that was that it is a museum you expect to see the very best ! you wouldn't walk into another museum and see a fake. In my opinion the person who is growing the plants are definitely not qualified, they need to learn more from someone who knows what they are doing. Other than that we had the best time in their company and the museum as a whole, we are unsure of any names we just wish you all the very best and we will see you in the year (without the roudy boys 🤣), even if its just to see if the plants have...
Read moreIf you're unlucky enough to get there to buy some random space cake, a "happy go lucky" clerk will come to you and suggest that you should buy some gums or something like that, that are "at the same price" but somewhat more strong. At that point you must be EXTREMELY CAREFUL because that's a scam. When you pay you must check exactly how much they charged you because we ended up paying something like 60 euros for the thing that was supposed to cost just as much as a simple space cake, and then the clerks were acting like everything was our fault and that they specifically told us the exact price of the gums they sold us (not true) and so on. The only cheap at that place are the tricks that they use to fool customers. I think that everyone should avoid this place. Amsterdam is full of way more credible businesses who care about customer...
