A hidden gem with rich flavors and warm hospitality
Lavash Restaurant in Amsterdam is a true hidden gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Middle Eastern and Caucasian cuisine. Located just a short walk from the city center, Lavash offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
The interior is tastefully decorated – warm lighting, traditional accents, and a calm vibe that invites you to relax and enjoy. The staff are genuinely friendly, attentive without being pushy, and happy to explain the menu to newcomers.
As for the food – simply delicious. Fresh ingredients, bold spices, and a perfect balance of flavors. The lavash bread is warm and soft, freshly made, and served with a variety of dips that burst with taste. Their grilled meats are juicy and well-marinated, and the vegetarian options are just as satisfying.
We tried the lamb kebab, hummus, and a traditional rice dish, and everything was cooked to perfection. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and presentation is on point.
This is the kind of place that feels authentic, not commercial – clearly run with passion and pride. Whether you're stopping by for a casual dinner or planning a special evening with friends or family, Lavash is a place that delivers both in flavor and experience.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore a different side of Amsterdam’s food scene. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning...
Read moreA mediterranean bite in northern Europe. My family and I visited for Christmas Dinner last year, and we found no shortage of Christmas cheer at Restaurant Lavash. An exhaustive 15-hour airplane ride touching down the morning, I knew my family wouldn't tolerate a Christ-miss. And after a chilly, short walk from our accommodations near the Rijksmuseum, we found ourselves in the welcoming atmosphere of Resto. Lavash.
I would give the food 4 stars. While it was not mind-blowingly innovative or decorated, it boasted rich flavors and juicy bites. I especially enjoyed the Brown Butter Sage Ravioli, with thick pasta balancing warm, comforting butter. And of the platters my family shared, the assorted meat plate offered flavorful lamb and tender chicken. The meal made us indulgingly full, but each bite was worth the bite. Plus, it was nothing the walk back to our hotel could not stifle.
We came across a food truck selling pjoffertes on the way back, near the Rijkmuseum. The sweetness of the dessert mingled very well in my stomach with the salty goodness of the meal. Christmas dinner could not have a better match. I highly recommend Restaurant Lavash. It will not be a Christ-miss.

Read moreIt's hard to beat the location and atmosphere, but Lavash's food and service disappoints. It calls itself a "mediterranean" restaurant by including everyone's favorite hits. From tapas, mezes to pasta/pizza. And yet surprisingly (or inexplicably), salmon and ribeye steak. A charitable person would call this an eclectic menu. I would call it a gillnet for catching tourists. On to the food: the kebabs were good, but overpriced considering the portions; and no extra serving of humus or tzaziki to add to the lavash bread provided, so I ended up eating everything separately. My 8 year old son had the plain pizza "margherita". Man, what a real disappointment. It's hard to screw up something so simple. It tasted like a warmed up frozen supermarket pizza. Come on guys! Lastly, we waited over 40 minutes for the appetizers and again for the main. Drinks arrived late, and they refused to serve tap water (why?). Nobody seemed to care here. This establishment just treats you as hungry wallet - and boy did they enjoy extracting $$. On a positive note, I can't be fooled twice. Won't be...
