From the moment our party walked into Saint Morris, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere immediately struck us—sleek, yet warm, with the kind of ambiance that feels both elegant and inviting. The space was remarkable, with an unexpected touch that truly made it stand out: hundreds of thousands of dollars scattered across the walls, creating a bold, luxe vibe that was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. We were greeted by the head host, who immediately set the tone for the evening. Not only was he professional, but his attention to detail was on another level. My family thoroughly enjoyed their meals, while I had a few personal reservations.

The restaurant’s grill is definitely its highlight, with a flavourful char that my family loved. However, achieving a proper medium rare seemed to be a challenge, as my order leaned closer to medium well. For those preferring medium to well done, like the rest of my family, the quality more than suffice. The meat was fresh, the portions hearty, and overall, it offered excellent value for the price.

Service was warm, prompt, and efficient. The staff managed an increasingly busy crowd without breaking a sweat, and our food arrived almost immediately after ordering.

The restaurant is cosy but prioritises table numbers over comfort, resulting in tighter seating arrangements. On our visit, a neighbouring bachelor party of six easily filled the width of the space. This, combined with its popularity for gatherings, means the atmosphere can quickly turn vibrant and boisterous.

One downside is the ventilation. The strong aroma of the grill lingers throughout and will follow you home. While some may appreciate this sensory reminder of the evening, others, like me, find it less appealing.

I have no words to describe this place, but I’d like to share a quick story. My husband and I were traveling through Europe on a low-cost budget, and when we arrived in Amsterdam, we went to a market in Nieuw-West to buy some basic items. There, we noticed a strange commotion involving a group of young people. Since we don’t speak Dutch, we didn’t understand what was happening. Suddenly, a small bomb exploded just about a meter away from us. We ran as more explosions went off around us. A bus was set on fire, and the police arrived quickly. Later, we found out it was part of protests related to a footballmatch between Ajax and an Israeli team.

It was a terrible and scary day. However, we decided to give the city another chance and went out for dinner. Looking for an affordable restaurant with good meat options, we found Saint Morris, and it turned out to be an amazing experience!

We were welcomed with such warmth by the host, who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He even tried to say a few words in Portuguese, our native language, which made us feel so at home. With good humor, smiles, and a playful attitude, he recommended a delicious dish for us.
