So me and my son saw this restaurant while we were sightseeing and decided we would come back later for dinner. We just left the restaurant now and I usually don’t leave bad reviews but if I left a good one for Lou Lou’s, I would be telling a big lie. We arrived here and was given a table, we placed our order and we sat for over 30 minutes just for me to talk to one of the waiter before they brought our starter ( fried prawns and calamari) prawn tasted delicious but calamari was bland, thanks to the sweet and chilli sauce that came with the prawns which I used for my calamari to give it a taste. With our main, it took another 25 minutes which I also had to talk to someone next to the kitchen before they brought our main.
I mentioned not to add bacon to the meal, lo and behold, burger came with bacon, was taken and brought back without the bacon, the burger they advertised looks very well made but what arrived looks like the cheapest burger from McDonald, now I took a look at the steak and I said nahhh! No way I’m eating this because all it needed was a vet and it would have made it back to the field/farm alive, blood was everywhere!! and even stained the crispy chicken next to it, took that back as well and cooked it some more and brought back to the table, the waiter told me it’s now well done, lies, it wasn’t, it was medium but I managed to eat the cooked bit. We didn’t even bother to finish our meal because it just wasn’t enjoyable.
I have never in my life leave a long or bad review like this before because I always like to think of the hard working staff but I was so disappointed at this that I couldn’t hold it back. We were almost going to walk out of the restaurant after our food didn’t arrive on time but we already touched our drinks, food wasn’t affordable either. Sorry but I will never visit this restaurant again next time I’m...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this place. I came in hoping to enjoy a good tiramisu, especially since it’s located near the central station and convenient for my way home. Given the number of Italians and Mediterranean people around, I expected something authentic.
When the server brought my tiramisu, I was immediately skeptical. It was served on an oversized plate with the corners filled with slagroom (whipped cream) to make up for the emptiness of the dish. The tiramisu itself was drowning in chocolate and topped with even more slagroom. When I scraped off the excess, I realized the actual size of the tiramisu, without exaggeration, was barely 3×7 cm². But if that were the only issue, I wouldn’t even bother writing this review.
The real problem? It wasn’t a tiramisu at all. They might as well call it something else, but definitely not tiramisu. Instead of being soaked in coffee, the French cat tongue biscuits were drenched in an overly sweet syrup, making the dessert unbearably sugary, especially combined with the excess chocolate on top. The best part of a tiramisu, the mascarpone cream, was completely missing. In short, this dessert could be anything except tiramisu.
I barely managed to take two small bites before stopping. I could immediately feel a sugar rush. It was way too sweet. I called the server to express my concerns, but in the end, I still had to pay for something that neither tasted good nor resembled what I ordered. A complete disappointment, I felt like I had been scammed.
I’ve had much better tiramisus in the center, even at lower prices. One place I highly recommend is Volare: Volare on Google Maps. It has a great vibe, good drinks, and delicious dessert, plus excellent...
Read moreGenerally speaking, after sampling numerous steak options in Amsterdam, I have found it quite challenging to encounter a truly well-prepared steak. On this particular occasion, I opted for the rib-eye steak, requesting it to be cooked medium. However, the dish that arrived was a testament to the inconsistencies that plague many establishments. The steak was unevenly cooked, with certain sections verging on rare, starkly contrasting with my specified preference for a medium doneness. Moreover, the meat had an unpleasant odor and was excessively chewy, further detracting from the overall experience. Despite returning the steak uneaten, the team did not offer a refund.
Despite this disappointment, the accompanying fries were a notable highlight. They were exceptionally crispy, well-prepared, and delectably seasoned, providing a gratifying counterpoint to the otherwise underwhelming main course. The salad, while basic, was executed correctly; it is a straightforward dish that rarely falters.
The risotto, however, failed to meet the mark. A quintessential risotto should be creamy and smooth, yet this iteration was regrettably dry, lacking the characteristic velvety texture and rich flavor one expects. It was evident that the preparation had missed crucial steps in achieving the desired consistency.
In summary, while the meal had its redeeming elements, the critical aspects, particularly the steak and risotto, were disappointing. The pursuit of a consistently excellent steak in Amsterdam continues to be an elusive endeavor, suggesting a need for heightened culinary standards and more meticulous...
