Extremely Disappointed – Unprofessional and Poorly Managed

I called earlier this afternoon to make a reservation for dinner. The person I spoke with took down all my details and clearly confirmed that my booking was secured. Based on that confirmation, we arrived at the restaurant on time at 6:30 PM — only to find it completely packed and no table available for us.

When I asked the staff at the counter, I was simply told that they hadn’t been informed of any reservation. There was no apology, no explanation, and no effort made to rectify the situation — just a flat response of “we don’t have a booking.”

This was incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable. We had planned a special Mother’s Day dinner, and instead we were left scrambling to find another restaurant at the last minute. It was not only disappointing, but also extremely inconvenient.

A restaurant that takes bookings needs to have better communication and a more professional approach. This experience has left a very sour impression, and I won’t be recommending this...

We stopped to eat here after a walk at Hagley Park. The place is very modern and different. We sat down and ordered the Family meal. We had to go to the restroom but couldn't find it. Apparently you have to get a key card to go to the bathroom across the glass doors. A little inconvenient but not an issue. Like I said it was a modern styled restaurant and not too big.

The food arrived and it looked very good. My first bite I was impressed with how savory and tasty the kabob was. It was tender and full of spices. The rice was well cooked, and colorful. The Naan was warm and soft and not thin.

The chicken kabob was juicy, flavorful and my toddler ate at least 5 big pieces. Apparently we did not get the chutney that goes with the meal but I didn't notice.

I enjoyed my meal and got full since the plate was big enough to share with 6 adults and 2 kids and still had leftover.

I did wish they had a dessert menu since I always love something sweet at the end of the meal.

I do recommend this place if looking for a...

Dear Restaurant Manager,

I'm writing to report an issue with my recent order. I purchased one serving of chicken and rice for $23.99 NZD and a cola for $5.00 NZD. The total should have been $28.99 NZD. However, I noticed an additional item, “mixed rice,” priced at $24.99 NZD, was added to my bill.

I paid with my VISA debit card before carefully reviewing the total. Upon realizing the error, I requested a receipt, which was initially denied. After insisting on an explanation, the cashier admitted the mistake and refunded me $25.00 NZD in cash.

I kindly ask you to investigate this matter. I urge all customers to be vigilant and double-check their bills before paying to avoid similar...

I had an amazing dining experience at Persian Charcoal! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors and made from high-quality ingredients. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly attentive and caring, ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. Highly recommend!
