One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at any venue.
It was 1:30am on a Friday night, and we walked in as a group of 6. From the second we walked in, the waiter had an attitude. Half the tables were empty, and the waiter sat us around 1 table to make space for other possible customers later in the night.
We were looking at the menu, and one member of the group said that there was gum on the menu. The waiter took her menu, LICKED the chewing. We all looked at each other in horror, unsure if he actually just licked the dried out chewing gum on their menu. He then said “definitely spearmint”, which caught us even more off guard.
We proceeded to order. I ordered a crumpet ($15), and my friend tried to order a crumpet and a hot chocolate as we didn’t want any more alcohol as it was already super late. The waiter said “this is a cocktail bar. You should go support local cafes like Enigma down the road. You’re costing us hundreds of dollars by not ordering drinks.” I asked him if he wanted us to leave and he said “go support he local cafes”.
We were stunned because we were planning on ordering more food and drinks, and at this point he had only taken the orders of 2 of us. As it was our friend’s last night in Wellington, we didn’t want to make a scene so we left. We walked down to Enigma to at least support another business, but they had already closed an hour and a half ago.
By far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, which was especially shocking considering we were all nice and polite. I can’t review the food or drinks as we didn’t have the chance to...
Read moreMy two friends and I were looking forward to this spot as it was recommended to us. We went in with high expectations but were really disappointed by the staff. After looking through the limited cocktail menu (which was shocking) we were regretful about staying but decided to grab a crumpet each instead.
However when we ordered our crumpets the waitress was very rude in attitude and instead of asking the usual questions (have you ever been here before?, what cocktails/drinks do you like? etc) she proceeded to say and I quote "Well I would recommend getting a drink since we are a bar" in a very shockingly rude tone. And that was all she said before snatching the menu and leaving with a huff and a puff.
The three of us discussed this over our average crumpets that were LUKE WARM, not even hot. NOT worth $12 for some watered down, mild, honey and a warm crumpet. And finally, we we decided to leave, the other staff member who seemed to be the manager was irrationally loud and obnoxious, doing far too much for such a small space, she almost seemed drunk.
Atmosphere was decent, unfortunate location. Would not recommend for young people unless you have some extra cash and love wine. Definitely not catered towards...
Read moreI went here with 5 friends around 2am, the server was really really rude and obnoxious. One of my friends noticed chewing gum stuck to her menu which she pointed out and the server licked that gum and said "oh it's definitely spearmint". Another friend asked if they could order a hot chocolate and the server smugly replied "we are a cocktail bar" the server then went on to ask if we were ordering drinks, I said no (one of my friends was keen to order) and by the time my friend could order her drink, the server then started being smug and told us "i think you guys should leave and go support local cafes and get food and your hot chocolates" then the server directed us off to Enigma cafe which was closed. Server then started saying that they would lose 100s of dollars in revenue if they serve us. there were 3 empty tables when we got there. There were 6 of us and just the revenue from the food itself would have crossed $200 easily. all of us were stone-cold sober. Sadly, this place was on my bucket list but now it is on...
