My partner and I ordered donburi for delivery last night, and both of us were highly impressed.

The donburi were both beautifully presented and I liked how the clear lid on the bowls showcased this before we even opened them. The Sushi Store is obviously proud of their creations, which is always a good sign. I almost felt bad for eating it, but only for a short moment -it was absolutely delicious. All the ingredients were so fresh and perfectly balanced! We were both blown away.

What’s more, the packaging the donburi came in was completely biodegradable and/or recyclable, which is a big tick from me. I often don’t reorder from places that use non-recyclable/biodegradable packaging.

The only improvement I could suggest would be to use free range chicken, eggs and pork, unless doing so already (although I looked on their website, and it wasn’t mentioned). I realise this might hike costs a little, but I would happily pay more to know what I was eating came from free range chickens and piggies, and that my wallet was supporting these practices.

We have been ordering here for the past year. At one point we were ordering almost daily. The last couple months they have become very stingy with the quantity and general taste of the food. The price is expensive so you would expect the food to match that. Everytime I ordered the miso salmon & miso eggplant there was almost no miso sauce on the eggplant (which is the main purpose of the dish). We stopped ordering from here after we realised this was an ongoing issue. My partner also bought another dish that had very thin slices of fish and a lot of rice but the price was so expensive. It would have made more sense to get sashimi and add rice - at least then you are actually getting fish. Anyways, we tried ordering again today to see if they are any better but this time there was NO miso sauce on the eggplant - just tasted like eggplant and oil. Really...
