Krispy Kreme Chancery Square — Restaurant in Waitematā

"Doughnuts make the world go round." Such is the sentiment emblazoned in neon lettering above the cosy dining space in this sweet-smelling eatery, and I doubt seriously if I, esteemed food critic, could have said it much better.

So delicious do I find the offerings at my local Krispy Kreme that I have found myself, almost unconsciously, returning twice in one week, as though an invisible force beckons me to it. It is the spirit of Vernon Rudolph, founder of Krispy Kreme, an apparition with well-groomed hair and a pleasantly rotund mid-section, shaped not unlike the donuts he so lovingly bakes. He beckons me in, and I go.

The apple crumble donuts are to die for, and that's coming from someone who isn't too keen on custard fillings. Furthermore, despite certain gastrointestinal disagreements between myself and food products of a dairy nature, my friend Remy and I consumed and enjoyed part of a strawberry milkshake, a flavor which transports one instantly to one's childhood, stubby fingers sticky with pink melting cream. I would be remiss if I did not mention the Oreo-topped donut. Though the Oreos themselves do turn a bit soggy, the cream inside is a love ballad to Oreos to which your taste buds will gladly dance along.

We walked all the way across town with aching sore feet to get donuts from Krispy Kreme and arrived 15 mins before the official closing time. Whilst the seats were all stacked up and covered for the night, we popped in and asked if we could takeaway only to be told they were out of donuts.

We were disappointed they had sold out after the long walk, but understood and ended up resting outside for a bit before heading back. Bang on 10pm the staff turned the lights off and left for the evening all carrying boxes of donuts they obviously were not out of that they were secretly keeping for themselves.

Very upset in the lack of customer service here. We expected a lot more from Krispy Kreme given its reputation. The flagship store in Manukau has always put the customer first - what a shame this store doesn't have the same standards and thinks lying to customers is easier than waiting till closing time before taking the leftovers home for personal...

Terrible terrible experience ever! The most unprofessional manager I have ever encountered in my life! They offer Alipay option on the machine, then guess what happened, when our payment went through successfully , they said they it’s got cancelled, they didn’t get the money, they didn’t even know they have this payment method!!! We had to pay by efpos again without any explanation but“I am the manager here, we did it get you money!” After I insisted on her call for someone higher, she decided to give my money back, but no apology at all, she still believed it’s our faulty to use this payment ,they didn’t get this money!!!
