We went here twice, particularly to eat Yakiniku /Japanese barbecue, however, we also tried some other dishes on the menu. The food overall was decent, however, the quality of meat was not consistent even within the same order. For example, we ordered two portions of wagyu short ribs to barbecue - one plate (the one on top) had perfect marbling, but i removed the plate on top to see the one on the bottom and the one on the bottom was not even 20% of the quality of the plate on top (you can see the short ribs pictures). And this happened on both days, we felt like we were being short changed, but i honestly did not want to have an unpleasant conversation towards the end of the trip, particularly when the staff seemed to struggle with english.
We also had the wagyu fried rice, cucumber salad, japanese vegetable sesame salad, chicken karage (japanese fried chicken) and steamed rice
Some highlights and points to note: Good Wagyu - however, the meat quality is not consistent. Chicken karage was good Fried rice was a little too oily The salads were good A typical japanese yakiniku will have raw vegetables to order and cook, however, this option was not available When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated on the right side of the kitchen. I noticed there was no grill there and i asked to be seated where there were barbecue tables (left side of the kitchen). The staff seemed a little uncomfortable, but i insisted. The yakiniku space was huge, however, they returned to ask if we would be cooking our own meat. The staff also did not seem to know how to start the grill. So if you want yakiniku, please ask them to seat you at the right spot Communication was not very easy, however, it is manageable if you are persistent
Overall, it is a decent option, if you are willing to overlook a few hiccups. The meat quality can be good. However, you will be disappointed if you expect a complete Japanese...
Read moreWhen entering no one to greet you and take you to a table. When you look around for the foods, most of them are already empty. You have to call the staff to make your order and when you ask for some of the items they either say they don’t have any more or they’ll only bring one plate of waygu beef at a time. All the staff working there will ask you to give them a 5 star review on google and they will continue to serve you or they will leave you with a bad attitude throughout your dinning experience. Honest review, all the staff asks for a review about themselves so they can get a pay bonus but their service is on the poor side. (This is mostly why you see all 5 star review here which are 90% bias.) You would expect to spend minimum $60 per person to $100 per person and they still have little to none variety of foods. Most hot plates on display would be empty and they will not refill them. Food they are given are really good but Jsut which there would be more variety of foods rather than having all the hot plates that you have to be empty with nothing left in them and no one refills. Give it a try if you want to try some waygu beef in Auckland City but I wouldn’t recommend a place to regularly go with the price and the amount of...
Read moreCame here last night with a group of friends and when you walk into the place it feels like a ghost town. Quite dead. Kitchen itself looked like a ghost town too with hardly any chefs working. Like alot of other reviews about this place here, the buffet foods lack quantity.
There’s only a ‘few’ pieces of everything in the budfet and doesnt look appealing but I think this is because they are catering for less customers and or hardly any chefs. The only thing good is the wagyu beef itself and unlimited fizzy drinks. Wagyu is very enjoyable to eat. Service is friendly. Kitchen appeared to close off at 8-830pm and we were kicked out At around 9:30pm even though their opening time states that they close at 11pm. We bought the $79/person hotpot deal but was definitely not worth the price considering how low the quantity the buffet foods were all the time and they were never topped up during the time we were there
I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I’d suggest going to other hotpots in south akl or south eastern areas. This place has some great potential but just needs some...
