Sal's Authentic NY Pizza - Krd — Restaurant in Waitematā

I ordered a whole pizza online to pickup and when I went to pickup the person had maid a slice instead of a whole pizza and then said she didn’t notice and there wasn’t enough ham anymore to make a whole pizza anymore. Very shocking that a $63 order would be for a slice. We than asked for a refund to which was told it had to be through the site that does not have a refund option. We asked to explain how we get our refund because this mistake is not our mistake but rather the store’s mistake, the person there than got mad saying they didn’t have time for this and gave the refund in cash. This is really bad customer support and lack of attention when checking the order to then get mad at the customer, sounds like a joke but isn’t.

I was born and raised in NYC. While not the best “NY pizza” I’ve ever had, Sal’s makes a great standard NY pizza that would be typically eaten any given day by local New Yorkers. The Kroad Sal’s I find to be particularly greasy (reason for 4 stars) but still delicious (some New Yorkers will be seen patting their pizza with napkins to soak some of the grease off of the top before eating).

The buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing is a staple side in a NYC pizzeria and taste authentic. I strongly suggest that you try either the buffalo wings or mozzarella sticks—guilty pleasures. And of course, a pepperoni pizza is standard and tastes great. All round for a New Yorker this is a great taste of home away from home and while not the best it is still better than pizza...

After yet another disappointing experience, this is my final trip to Sals, this time, not only did the slices taste weird, like the tomato base sauce was stale or off, but when ordering the 1 x Cheese and 1 x Pepperoni combo, I was charged an extra $1 because I did not order the combo by its correct name, LOL! So many other options on Karangahape Road, without the idiocy of this kind of business model. This is the 3rd I have had average pizza, last time was Sals Lincoln Road and time before Sals New Lynn, who never bothered to respond to their sub par...
