I recently visited The Coffee Club and wanted to share some feedback from my experience. The food was average but filling, so it did the job. Nothing fancy, but it got me through. I couldn’t help but notice that the staff preparing the wraps weren’t wearing gloves or hair nets. I know food safety is a big deal, so this was a bit concerning.
Also, I found it a bit inconvenient that the wharepaku (bathroom) was located in an entirely different building next door. It’s not the most practical setup—especially if you’ve had a strong coffee!
That said, I did notice a few things that left me a bit concerned. First, I spotted a container in the kitchen full of what looked like pre-cooked pasta. Now, I’ve watched enough Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares to know that if Gordon walked in and saw that, he'd be flipping lids and throwing f-bombs. If it’s being frozen and reheated, that’s a serious no from me.
Also, I looked around for the Eat Safe food grade sign, which I believe is meant to be in clear view for customers—couldn't find it anywhere. That’s important, especially when you're trying to build trust with the public. Not being able to see it felt disappointing and honestly raised more questions than answers.
And let’s talk about the music. At one point, Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston started playing. A song that literally mentions suicide—definitely not appropriate in a family-friendly café with kids around. It totally killed the vibe. A more inviting playlist would go a long way in creating a better atmosphere.
Just thought I’d pass this along in the hopes it helps tighten things up a bit. Thanks...
Read moreQuite a nice place to have a coffee and relax. Had an iced Mocha & a chicken panini. The panini had a good balance of freshness, fatty cheese, and moist protein with the chicken, making it a great choice for a light meal or quick snack.
The music in the place wasn't distracting (both in regards to volume and playlist). At the time of visit (3-4 pm) it had half occupancy, varied range of ages but mostly uni aged people.
The staff was pleasant, and seemed to have a good relationship with regular customers while making sure the rest of us were properly cared for.
Tables were as clean as you'd expect them to be at the start of the day.
Definitely a great place to frequent now that the CBD renovations in the are finishing .

Read moreSu h a shame but this franchise seems to only get worse. From a group of 10 of us who all ordered various meals only 3 of us ate our meal with 2 happy with it and would order it again. The potato rosti was grey and obvious it had been pre grated and left to soak creating the grey colour of exposed potato. It seemed to be deep fried as full of grease and the middle was raw. The avo feta was not mashed together but instead a small cube of feta was placed under the poached egg. This made the dish unedible. The cooked breakfast had what seemed old scrambled egg, un cooked /heated sausage. In our group opinion the coffee club should stick to coffee as these were fine. Many of the tables around us were also complaining as to the quality of their meals. A great location but as this is one of multiple visits I will no longer...
