We live locally and have been meaning to try this place out for a couple of months. Had an early dinner tonight with my wife and 4 year old son. Service was great, we were warmly greeted at the door, without a booking seated at a decent booth which was perfect, then another gent came and went over the menu in depth, and we were checked on several times throughout the dinner...the only comment I'd make is - why is it "bar service " - surely as literally all the other guests are seated and eating, as they were, and service was quick, taking order at the table would have been good. It's annoying to have to remember everything and order at the bar when clearly there wait staff are on top of things
Food wise - the oysters were excellent as was the toastie, definitely the highlight of the menu. The chicken was very tasty but needs triple the amount of side sauce/herbs, all of which were delicious but just not enough. A dipping sauce would have been great.
The roast was a bit average frankly we got told it was the last lamb roast available (and when ordering got told they're not doing steak, because it's roast night, even though it was 5pm...). The lamb was seasoned nicely but was definitely well done and the side vegetables were very dry.
Their beer (the lager I had) and my wife's mocktail were both excellent

Two folds used to be woodpecker, beautiful restaurant and bar owned by Mark been so millions of times! Tonight 19 minutes ago we are planning gvto have a drink after our big expensive dinner , we were outside at your place with your heater on thinking what to ordered, wow amazing you guys turn off the heater in assuming we were just standing and having using your heater without ordering!???? Omg what a NZ experience once again! Just unbelievable ad we are not from here but we work here for so long and pay taxes, but tell you service everywhere you go is sucked! That’s why hospitality can’t be successful .. no matter what it is .. never been successful Example your place has a heater and we are planning to sit and spend so much money for drinks after our dinner and you guys turned off the heater so apparent! It means you guys are cheap and you don’t care about us!!! So think about it.. We didn’t came to your place for free heater, in fact we want to support you! If you want to be successful look after people, customers .. because without us you will ever be around’

Read moreFood was good, services not so much! I was looking forward to try this new place. I made a booking for business lunch at 12pm. My colleague and I got there slightly earlier, 7mins to 12pm. One of the staffs was at the door and said ‘we are not open yet guys! Open at 12pm’ The staff didn’t seem to care even I told her that we got a booking at 12pm. She could have offered us to wait inside but nope…We had to walk around outside in a cold and windy day until we were allowed to get in! So first impression was not impressed!
We ordered a few dishes to share and the food was good, tasty and well presented. However, the staffs were not attentive. We had to try to get someone attention to order food and ask for more...
