Almost a year ago, I sustained a back injury during a weights class at the gym. I was in severe pain and unable to walk for a week and was looking at a long and slow rehab. My physio – also a trained Pilates instructor, suggested that starting with some gentle Pilates stretches would help with getting back some mobility, and might reduce the numbness in my leg caused by the disc protrusion. After a couple of months of re-hab with my physio, I contacted Luci Harrison, who assessed my physical limitations, and started me on a gentle programme of Pilates on her reformer machine. Each week, Luci would make changes to the work-out, targeting different muscles with slight adjustments to the machine. Read moreI could not recommend Balance Bloom enough. I took a Pilates mat class and loved every bit of it. My instructor, Fleur, was a friendly and talented instructor who made a newbie like me feel totally comfortable.
It’s been a number of years since I gave proper exercise and group classes a go, as I tend to find the whole process a bit daunting! But I was welcomed with big smiles and a lot of warmth by Fleur and the owner of the business, Luci, who very clearly have great passion for what they do.
The more intimate class size was lovely, as it meant each class member was really well supported by our instructor. This is often something I found lacking in other fitness classes I have attended elsewhere.
The studio itself is comfortable and full of light, with great equipment too. I really couldn’t be more pleased with how it went.

Read moreI loved my first ever Pilates session ever with Luci. She was sensitive to my ability (or lack of) and created a session that was perfectly suited to me. We started on the mat where she assessed me and then moved to the Reformer which was challenging but enjoyable. I loved the combination of stretches and I definitely felt it the next day. It was a perfect combination of strength building and pushing of the limits. Luci was attentive and obviously has great knowledge and experience with the anatomy and Pilates. She has a beautiful light filled space in Parnell that feels like a retreat.
