O’Leary Sports pub: A Cold Reception for Non-White Patrons "My first visit to O'Leary's Sportspub in Oslo, Norway, turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience. Despite my excitement to watch a Euro soccer game, the evening took an unfortunate turn.
Despite being assured by my hotel that reservations weren’t necessary, I arrived an hour early only to be told that entry without one was impossible. Instead, I was directed to the outdoor area where I endured the cold, even though I requested to stand indoors or just find a single seat to enjoy the game as a first-time visitor from the US.
What struck me the most was the stark contrast in treatment. While white patrons were promptly ushered inside, I and others were left outside, feeling unwelcome and overlooked. Even those arriving much later than me were granted entry and enjoyed the match without issue. This discriminatory treatment left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I urge anyone who values inclusivity and opposes racism to reconsider visiting this...
Read moreVery expensive for what we ordered, see pics of what we ordered from menu and what we got, 2 Pepsi and garlic cheese bread and onion rings just shy of £20GBP, the equivalent would have been £12-15 London prices. But the worst part is when I asked about the garlic cheese bread not having cheese on, the waitress went to speak to the cook (not chef, cook) and came back to say that the cheese turns into oil and mixes into the garlic butter which I why I couldn’t see it. Not only could I not see it, but I couldn’t taste it, BECAUSE IT WASNT THERE! I was lied to by the cook and wait staff. The worst part is you can only order via app so all the food was paid for before ordering. The waitress just smiled when I said I wasn’t happy. Also, partner went to use the toilets and the only one he could use was the disabled one but the seats was covered is piss so old that it had congealed to the...
Read moreGreat atmosphere right in the heart of Oslo! I stopped by O’Learys at Oslo Central Station and had such a great experience. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable — perfect for catching a game or just relaxing with friends. The staff were friendly, quick to serve, and really attentive despite how busy it was. The food was solid — classic American sports-bar style. I tried the burger and sweet potato fries, and both were delicious. Plenty of big screens showing different sports, good music, and a fun crowd made it even better. Being located right inside the central station makes it super convenient, whether you’re traveling or just meeting up in the city. Definitely one of the best spots in Oslo for good vibes,...
