Food is excellent, always. I love the dish pan fried stockfish. Always bring friends here if they want to try authentic local food. Their sample starter is a good option to try different specialties.
However, last time we went there was a goodbye party for one of us, and I had 2 friends visiting from abroad, the 3 of us was on time and ordered some wine as we knew 2 in the party would be late (and informed the staff about). Our waiter was nice in the beginning but when the last 2 arrived 20 minutes later he put on a massive attitude. We were having a good time and he was making us feel bad for laughing & talking and catching up. We wanted to share 2 of the sample as a starter for 5 since we know the main courses are massive and it was mostly for our international friends to try anyway. He told us starters were usually ment for 1 person. As normal..but we want to share - what's the fuzz?
He was chopping us up to get ready to order because the kitchen staff want to go home at one point. Might I remind you it says online that the restaurant is open until 11pm, about 9.15 we order our food. It seems like they rushed everything, and by the time we were done the whole restaurant was empty (I assume they rushed also the other tables to gtfo), there was nobody in the kitchen and no waitresses to thank us for our experience and wish us a lovely night.. soooo odd! we left at 10 pm more or less.. 1 hour before it was suppose to close.. the waiter should state from the begining if they are not doing regular hours and are closing 1 hour earlier, but we never heard anything about this. Very rude staff on shift that day.
Such a shame our experience was terrible thanks to our horrible service. I'm definitely not bringing any friends here in the future. You lost a very loyal...
Read moreAfter a long, tiring day at work, me and my old mother decide to have a restful dinner by the seaside, possibly consuming some specialty of the local cuisine. A brief Google search leads us to the Arctandria, apparently an expensive but elegant restaurant that will satisfy our wishes for tasteful food. We walk up the stairs full of hope and hunger and we wait for our turn to be seated. This is when we are approached by a short-haired demon in female form. The woman, wearing glasses and a dark Karen-esque bob, immediately glared at us with a piercing look and posed her face in a disgusted expression, perhaps the same of somebody that had smelled something disgusting. She came our way angrily strutting and at my request for a place to eat she acted like I had asked her to take a damp on my chest, rudely demanding I moved away from the counter. The waitress- if she can be annovered as one- then lead us to a table, the one with the least view in a room full of empty tables that had better view. My mother at first wandered slightly towards another table, a misstep that was immediately chastised by a harsh "HALLO". At my polite request for a better table the waitress run towards the kitchen, screaming at the top of her lungs that we had no choice but to accept her will, and we left, hungry and frustrated. We are now sitting in the far more comfortable and lovable Biffhuset, wondering how comes she has not been fired yet, considering there are plenty of other negative reviews addressed to her. As long as she works at the Arctandria I personally suggest: don't climb the stairs, instead veer left and go to Biffhuset, the staff is lovely and the...
Read moreWeird restaurant experience with awful customer experience from the lady serving us.
We had a reservation made with a group. Part of the group arrived 20min early. I arrived the last one and about on time (I remember checking the watch it was 2min after the reservation time).
The first order round happened about 20min after I arrived. A bit late, for which at the end we were told she waited for us too much from the reservation time. In any case... I politely ask if we need to order drinks first. The rude response was that we're late and we need to order food. She realized after taking my order she'll have to do another tour for the table for drinks anyway, so she changed her mind.
The specialty dish was mediocre for my taste. The fish was good, though overwhelmed by the bacon which is both very salty and strong in taste. Anyhow, I did enjoy it for what it was.
After deserts, the table ordered another bottle of wine. The lady brought the bottle only to come back less than 5min later, taking the bottle cap (it almost looked like she was afraid we'd take the bottle with us) and announcing we need to leave faster than when our reservation would end. The discussion got heated. When we brought the topic of her bad manners, she bragged how good her personal reviews are as if that counts. The lady even rested her hand on a person's shoulder in an attempt to force her decision to throw us out.
The lack of cushion words like please or thank you from our waitress made the whole interaction really tensioned and bad.
If you have a stomach for bad customer service, get there and hope...
