Nuestro BistrĂł is a good night out, but falls short of being exceptional. To starts, we had Tiradito Apaltado to share, which was tasty, nicely presented and refined. We paired it with a cocktail, one Pikcha Sour with Elderflower and one Renacimiento, both House cocktails. The Pikcha was underwhelming, the Renacimiento was nice.
For mains, I had the Costillar Porchini, which tasted amazing. The meat was cooked to perfection and the flavour of the sauce was on point. The risotto de fungi lacked any fungi and was too al dente for my taste though. My partner had the Pulpo on Green Rice and while the squid was wonderful, the combined dish was too salty. Both plates could have done with being heated before serving, since they were cold to the touch, although the food itself was warm and all was nicely presented. We paired these dishes with a red Argentinian wine, expertly presented to us by the sommelier. While the selection is limited (only two wines were offered), one of those was perfectly to our taste.
We finished the evening with a desert to share and chose the Maracuyá Creme Brule, which fell well short of expectations. While the top was nicely caramelised, the rest of the dish was cold and difficult to get to because of the layer of caramelised sugar. Not the delicate experience you expect from a Creme Brule.
The atmosphere is the restaurant is ok, but one again does not impress entirely. The music should be curated better, staff were very attentive, but also loudly talking at the bar and we were the only people in the place. We ended up with a dish on our bill that we didn't get, which thankfully we spotted.
With work, this can be a great place, but for now it's a restaurant that reaches for something just...
Read moreIt doesn’t deserve a 4.8. I’ve eaten at many restaurants in Lima and this one is definitely in the bottom half.
Some of the dishes we ordered were very good, but some were so bad as to be inedible, indicating a serious lack of quality control and/or basic cooking ability by the staff.
We started with a tiradito which was very good.
Next we had “langostinos ahumado” which was terrible. They weren’t langostinos - just tiny shrimp that looked like they were taken from a frozen bag at the supermarket (together with mussels that looked the same, even though the menu did not mention mussels). And they were so overcooked as to be inedible. I told the waiter when he took away the plate and the waiter seemed embarrassed but did nothing to make it right (the dish still ended up on the bill).
Then we had a steak and potato dish as one of the mains. The waiter never asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and it came out cold. Not cool, but cold. It was tender enough and the potatoes were good. But the sauce was so over salted. This dish was also a bit embarrassing and should have never left the kitchen in that condition.
The final dish was trout with a wheat puree - this was very good but nothing spectacular to make up for...
Read moreGave this place a try because we were super hungry and this was close to us…. Very disappointed and felt like the waitress didn’t provide honest information. We order the ceviche, the shrimp with potatoes and the seafood pasta. The ceviche was served as a fried fish pancake with some sauce under it, and we were told it was “ a different type of ceviche”. The food tasted just like any fish pancake you can buy at a market. I wish they told us we weren’t getting real ceviche beforehand. The seafood pasta, which the waitress recommended as her favorite, is probably the most mid spaghetti that I’ve ever had. It was salty, and it has so much water in it like the pasta were floating in soup. The shrimped also came with skin for some reason, and was rly small. We were angry at how it turned out and ended up leaving in 30 min after seeing the food. Do not recommend anyone who wants...
