A long established Steak House in the residential area of Salcedo Village. Access is via two flights of stairs with no sign with the name of the restaurant on or above the sliding red door to the restaurant. Once inside, the decor is similar to that of a New York business person's club with its leather chairs and white linen. Prior to the ban on smoking in clubs, one can imagine it full of cigar smoke and members sipping their whisky. The restaurant is small with only 7 tables with attentive and friendly wait staff. It is recommended that you book. It is well suited to a business dinner or a romantic rendezvous.
The menu is simple but pricey ranging from P4200 up to P7200. The wine list is limited with wines mostly from the Americas and Spain, a nod to former colonial masters, with prices ranging upwards from P2800 a bottle.
A basket of dinner rolls with butter is provided and your drink orders are taken. Each meal starts with an hors d'oeuvres, an amuse bouche, followed by a soup of the day and a garden salad, in the American tradition. You choose from two offerings each of USDA steak, tenderloin, striploin, T bone or rib eye with the admonition that the steak is broiled, not grilled, and served medium rare. You are advised, quelle horreur, that you may request it cooked for a shorter or longer time. The steak is served with string beans and a choice of a range of side dishes, completed with a choice of 3 sauces; peppercorn, bearnaise or bordellaise.
The steak delivers on its promise. On each occasion I have been there, it is cooked to perfection as are the side dishes. I highly...
Read moreSince La Cabrera's disappointment, we started to look for the a nice steak house. We didn't plan to eat here. The place is peaceful from the busy streets of Makati. We ordered the Beef tapa, Salad and Tenderloin Steak.
I heard someone is calling them and making a reservation for the Bone Marrow. They have a limited stocks of this so maybe I will try this next time. You may call them and ask to prepare the meal in advance. Every crew is attentive to the experience of the customer.
The best is they will serve you the steak with a butane grill and you may choose yourself how you want your steak to be done (rare, medium, etc.).
If you are planning to have a date here, this is definitely the place. It is quite expensive, you may want to check the net for their prices but it is definitely worth it. Will eat here again and chances are high I will become a...
Read moreUpside: Food was excellent. The amuse bouche was to DIE FOR (oyster). The plating of the generous steak could have been better but it was fine. The steak made it all worth it. They have really good wine selection which got me really excited 😆.
Downside: Stairwell going up to the restaurant was tight and dark (almost looking dodgy). Restaurant was a bit warm especially if they put their wine bottles in the room as part of the ambience (they need to remember, they're in a tropical place). The still water served to us was not even placed in a nice carafe or pitcher. It was a liter of sidewalk mineral water. They could have been more discreet. The toothpick holder was similar to some Chinese resto i ate at in Africa 😂. I know, devil in the details, but c'mon, if you're paying almost $400 (the wine is to blame) for 2 people, i would expect some attention...
