In 2019, I booked a 2-Bedroom Premier Suite (loft-type) at this hotel to celebrate a quiet and intimate surprise retirement gathering for my mentor. Given that I had highly recommended this hotel to friends and relatives based on my wonderful experience at Citadines Ortigas, I thought this would be the perfect venue to mark this special milestone. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
We were fully aware of the hotel’s strict “no party” policy and made every effort to comply. There was no loud music, clapping, or any disruptive noise—just a simple dinner with quiet conversations about our mentor’s post-retirement plans. However, the way the hotel staff handled the situation was appalling.
Throughout the evening, we were bombarded with phone calls and knocks on the door every 10 minutes, insisting that two of our guests (who had only dropped by to chat for a short while) leave immediately. The constant interruptions disrupted the peaceful atmosphere we had intended and embarrassed us in front of our guests.
To make matters worse, our company Vice President, who had also come by briefly to pay respects to our mentor, mentioned how the staff made him feel like he was being “dragged away” with the persistent knocking and calls. This left a terrible impression, especially since my mentor was also his mentor, making the gathering even more meaningful.
I had chosen this hotel to create a warm, memorable experience, but instead, I was left humiliated in front of my colleagues and superiors. What should have been a celebration of a career well-lived turned into a night of stress and frustration.
Given this experience, I deeply regret recommending this hotel to others. For a hospitality establishment, I found the approach unprofessional, inflexible, and lacking in empathy for guests trying to create meaningful memories. I hope the management reconsiders their policies and staff training to ensure they handle similar situations with more tact and understanding...
Read moreMy recent stay at Citadines Salcedo Makati was absolutely phenomenal. The hotel’s studio rooms were not only comfortable but also beautifully furnished, creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
The pool area deserves a special mention - it’s a fantastic sun trap, perfect for basking in the warm sunlight or enjoying a leisurely swim. It became my favorite spot to unwind after a busy day in the city.
For fitness enthusiasts, the gym, though small, is perfectly equipped. It’s a great little facility for keeping up with workout routines.
One of the highlights of my stay was the fabulous breakfast served at the Manifesto Cafe attached to the hotel. This partnership between the hotel and the cafe is a stroke of genius, offering guests a delightful culinary experience each morning. The breakfast options were varied, delicious, and well-prepared - truly a fantastic way to start the day!
But what really made my stay memorable was the outstanding service provided by the staff. Abby at the reception was incredibly friendly and helpful, efficiently catering to all our needs with a warm smile. Roel, responsible for our rooms, ensured everything was spotless and comfortable. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor added so much to our stay.
Even when we faced a technical issue with our TV, the response was quick and efficient. The engineer who attended to us was friendly and professional, promptly replacing our TV with a better one upon realizing the issue couldn’t be fixed. This level of service and care was impressive and much appreciated.
In conclusion, Citadines Salcedo Makati isn’t just a hotel; it’s an experience. The exceptional service, coupled with great facilities, makes it a top choice for anyone visiting Makati. I highly recommend it and can’t...

When we arrived at Citadines this afternoon, we were impressed with the cleanliness and spacious room, and the hospitable service of the staff. Our luggage was brought to our rooms after we checked-in and everything was in good order, despite some cabinetry looking a bit worn. Slippers were also provided in the room, along with basic amenities. Love that a larger water jug is provided in the pantry - a better option than disposable water bottles. And there's a fridge and microwave too.
BUT the deduction in the stars, comes from the lack of timely communication by the hotel team on a facility closure - the temporary swimming pool closure. I cannot hide my disappointment at the untimely notice we received under our room door when we returned to our room in the evening. A pool closure on May 2 from 6am to 6pm due to a private event, to be reopened at 6:01pm. Part of going to the pool is enjoying it during the daytime. And to take it away from guests from 6am to 6pm, is very unfair.
We were not notified of this event during check in. And if we were told in advance (like during check-in, again, if I may emphasize), we might have planned to spend time at the pool this afternoon instead. But only providing notice LESS than 12 hours (perhaps even less than 8 hours!) before such an event is really too short and unprofessional. Very disappointing. We were hoping to use the pool during our last full day stay before checking out the morning after. If the event can conclude a few hours earlier, say, 3 or 4pm, that would still give guests time to use the pool during the day. So I suggest the hotel team to review how they distribute such communication to guests and ensure that they are given sufficient notice. Disappointed in the hotel's...
