UPDATED REVIEW 09 April 2025
Everyone ( except an ex who cheated on you😂) deserves another chance .. and this is exactly what I did when I returned to Green Bar last week.
It started with a personal message from the owners via FB Messenger, apologizing for my previous negative experience, and adding that they had actually taken my initial review seriously and made adjustments and! that they were inviting me and even a friend to try out house specialties which I had not gotten to taste during my past visits.
I was floored.
How many proprietors would take the time to reach out to customers and , moreover, not be defensive about a customer’s negative feedback?
I gladly accepted , and lo and behold! even discovered we lived in the same neighborhood. A lively conversation thus ensued.
While choosing between Nachos, Breakfast Burritos , Buffalo Cauliflower Wings, Barbecue Seitan Rice Bowl and Barbacoa Street Tacos, I suddenly remembered. that during the opening last month of a business venture of a friend, Green Bar was the caterer and I thought of how I had thoroughly enjoyed the Buffalo Cauliflower Wings, the mini wraps and the mango chia dessert!
We decided on the Nachos, which was an excellent choice - generously slathered with melted vegan cheese, faux meat , tomatoes and accompanied by a refreshing tomato- onion salsa.
The Breakfast Burrito was so « fat » it was difficult to put your mouth into it .😂 This one, though, could have more Seitan « beef » and less « eggs » ( tofu). But altogether good and filling.
Dessert was take home - too full! So my husband got to try all three and our favorites were the « crème brûlée « ( I think it is called) - something like a « cream puff « with a creamy filling and caramelized topping - really good . Why? Because the dough was soft and light, the filling not too thick or sweet.
The chocolate topped doughnut is also recommended. Again, not too sweet and the dough was soft and light.
I am very happy to have gone back and grateful that I got the chance to meet the owners, who are there every single day. Indeed, one can see and feel that Green Bar , is « a labor of love. »
UPDATED REVIEW MARCH 3, 2025
Decided to give this place another try after first two very negative experience.
Well, my review remains at one star , or even zero. I ordered a Green Bar Salad, which is supposed to be a house specialty. My eyes as well as my friend’s popped when we say how small it was, considering the price of p450!
Really a shallow bowl of lettuce, a bit of kale, unroasted cashews with a dressing that was too sweet.
Below is my original review: The first time I tried this restaurant was still during the pandemic and I remember clearly the Chickpea Omelette , which was tasteless.
Fast forward to 2024. A friend suggests having brunch at Green Bar and I decide to give it another chance.
We both ordered Mushroom Asado Taco on corn tortilla. When you think of it , for p160 is costly because get a small taco and a few slices of mushrooms.
What's more, the tortilla was extremely dry and I struggled to slice it . I ended up rolling it and using my fingers.
The mushrooms were stringy, not sautéed tender. And no hint of asado.
The waiter graciously offered , for free, to have us taste one flour tortilla taco , which should be softer .
Nope . Still like cardboard. The mushrooms, however, had more flavor.
On the plus side, the ambience was warm and cozy. Perhaps we did not order the right dish. But it's enough to make me decide to...
Read moreThis very cozy establishment is nestled on the second floor of the CTBC Bank building; which I had the pleasure of visiting twice May 27th (Sat) & May 28th (Sun). The second consecutive time was because I subconsciously left my power-bank; which they kindly held and charged for me the following day.
The following visit, I couldn’t resist but to re-ordered the same meal I had the day before; which was their fantastic breakfast burrito. It consisted of scrambled tofu, roasted potatoes, seitan, spinach and vegan hollandaise sauce.
I also had a cafe latte one day and a cold brew the other, the latte was a bit more delicious. Retaining it’s warmth much longer than the cold press; which became cold enough quick because of their super aircon system.
My recommendation is, If you happen to be anywhere within a 10-mile radius and looking to get out of the heat to have some fresh, delicious vegan food, then look no further than to stop in and try something on their menu.
The only thing that I would forewarn about is the restrooms; which are located outside the restaurant and a part of the building itself. They were just not as kept up as Green Bar and was a bit of a turn-off. Could use a little improvement, but again not sure if that's a Green Bar...
Read moreBeen here many times. Let me give an honest review of all the foods I tried so far.
I like the following: Quesadilla Gyro fries Rice and Shine Burritos Nachos Their Doughnuts are delicious. My fave is Custard doughnut. Ensaymada Miso mushroom rice bowl (Forgot the exact name)
Others: Tahini Bowl - good. Chickpea omelette - good. Sausage Egg Muffin - good. Beyond Chomper Burger - good. French Toast - inconsistent taste. The first time I ordered I loved the french toast, the second time, not as satisfying. But not bad.
I didn't like the following:
Cheesy pandesal - the cheese topping is hard and doesn't taste or feel anything like cheese, the filling which I'm not sure what, doesn't have any flavor. I ordered this because Ensaymada wasn't available. Anyway, it's only 30 pesos.
Chia Pancakes - Didn't like it. Too thick and tall layers of pancakes. Maybe it's just me. I prefer thin pancakes.
Unless they have improved the taste, better order something else instead...
