Greyhound Café - A Mix of Delight and Disappointment

Date of Visit: December 25, 2023

On the night of Christmas Day, my family and I decided to dine at Greyhound Café, the only open option at that late hour. We were promptly seated in the nicely decorated interior, but the upbeat EDM music, more fitting for a nightclub than a cafe, hindered our ability to converse and marred the overall ambiance.

Our order was placed at around 8:15 pm, but the waiting time was exorbitant. Nearly 40 minutes passed until our first dish arrived, and to our dismay, they were brought out one at a time, disrupting our desire to enjoy a family meal together.

Expressing our concerns to the staff only led to an unprofessional response, with the claim that they were intentionally delaying service to ensure all five items arrived simultaneously. When confronted about the incomplete and cold dishes, we were assured the chef was "on it," but it took another 30 minutes for three out of the five items to materialize. Frustrated and hungry, we decided not to wait for the fifth item and began eating.

The food itself was a saving grace, offering authentic flavors and evident quality. However, the portion sizes did not match the high prices. Despite the delicious taste, the extended waiting times significantly marred our overall experience.

While this review serves as an honest critique, acknowledging that the cafe is relatively new, I am open to giving Greyhound Café another chance. Perhaps, with improvements in service efficiency, it can live up to its culinary potential. For now, a rating of two stars reflects the mixture of delight and disappointment encountered...

Arrived at the branch in Ayala Triangle Gardens without reservation with my mom. Ordered Chubby Wonton and Sweet Corn and Crab for appetizers, Beef Noodle Soup and Pad Thai, Deep Fried Bangus rice meal, Coffee Jello and Fruity Yogurt for drinks and Young Coconut crepe cake and Sea Salt chocolate cake for dessert. Food is great, they arrived relatively fast and one after the other. Both appetizers were fried crisp much more with the wontons, the noodle soup is a winner for both of us, with chunks of beef and meat balls, noodles were firm enough but the broth was amazing with lots of flavor from the beef and spices, seasoned very well. Pad thai was ok for me, enough seasoning but nothing extraordinary. Mom said Pad Thai from Bangkok was better. The bangus was also good, very crisp skin that is too good to leave behind, plus with the thai fish sauce made it better. Mom liked both cakes, both not too sweet, with the coconut cake having a mellow coconut flavor with chunks of coconut between the crepe layers, the horse cookies as decor providing a slight crunch along with the scattered white chocolate on the plate. The chocolate cake is darker in flavor, with some of the salt on side and cream on the other, better to use the salt sparingly while eating the cake. The Coffee Jelly is slightly bitter for me so my mom gets it for herself since she likes black coffee. the yogurt drink I like better with the different fruits combining their flavors smoothly within the yogurt base, sweet drinks I like! We were full afterwards and had to take out the leftovers...

One of my worst dining experiences to date. My colleagues and I decided to eat here because of the BPI 50% off promo. Came to the restaurant around 12:10pm and placed our orders around 12:20pm. Around 12:30, the server said that the serving time would be 20-30min so fine we waited. One appetizer and one entree came out around the 20min mark. After a few more minutes we got 3 of the 6 remaining entrees served (but undercooked). We were missing 3 more items and followed up 5 times before finding out that their POS was broken, they couldn't even retrace our order. We tried billing out but they couldn't even do this without us getting mad and making us repeat all of our orders. While we tried to be understanding that the system was broken, this could have been resolved by communicating with the diners. If we opted not to report this to the manager we would have been waiting there for hours. This restaurant is still fairly new in Ayala Triangle and needs to work a lot on their logistics and...
