I came across this Japanese restaurant while in Bohol, and after seeing the great reviews, I had to give it a try. Having been to both Japan and South Korea, I know what top-quality ramen and gyoza should taste like, and this place did not disappoint.
I ordered the spicy ramen with minced pork mixed in, and it was exceptional. The broth had next-level depth of flavor, making it one of the best bowls of ramen I’ve had outside of Japan and Korea. The gyoza were equally impressive – perfectly pan-fried, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor.
I also had a Gin Fizz made with Japanese gin, a personal favorite of mine, and it was spot on. The balance of flavors, consistency, and portion size were just right.
The service here is also worth mentioning! The two ladies running the restaurant and bar work incredibly hard and provide such warm and friendly service. The atmosphere is great, with nice background music adding to the experience.
Overall, a fantastic dining experience. If you’re in Panglao and craving authentic Japanese food, this spot is...
Read moreHad a lovely time at Kissa Panglao last March when we visited Bohol. We went there twice during our 3 days stay because we found the food and service great! My hubby loved the curry rice and gyoza while I enjoyed the hamburg steak. Our friend ordered the stir fried veggies and he loved it also! He even ordered a take out. We went back the second time for the gyoza and their bar drinks. Tried the Roku Gin + Tonic while the hubs ordered the Makers Mark one. Both are good! Their glasses are wiped sparkly clean and their ice doesn’t taste bad like the ones we tried on one of the other bars. I mean, these little details are oftentimes missed by restaurant owners. But this attention to detail and honest service are what draws me and my hubby to places like this. Also, their staffs are very accommodating, they can also explain to you what you want to know about the menu.
And can I just say that their comfort room is clean and smells really nice! Definitely a must...
Read moreI lived in Japan for 8 years and it’s sometimes difficult to find authentic Japanese food outside of Japan. This Jul 2022 trip was our first time to Philippines in 4 years. I was ecstatic to discover a Coco Ichiban Curry restaurant in Manila. Imagine my surprise to find Kissa on the island of Bohol and even more surprising that their curry was tastier than Coco’s! We also tried the Katsudon which was done perfectly with very tender pork, and the gyoza was to die for! The food was so good that we decided to come back only a couple days later. We tried the mochi ice cream and chocolate fudge brownies - both awesome. I was privileged to meet the owner and talked with him about the food. I told him the gyoza tasted hand made and he said in fact it was - by him! He often cooks in Kissa and is so friendly and courteous. I would recommend Kissa to anyone that wants a taste of Japan outside of Japan, you won’t be...
