Encaramada Rooftop Bar — Restaurant in Pasay

Great view, indeed. Apart from that it was a mixed experience with a positive touch. The rooftop bar is on top of a hotel, when we arrived some guests in swimwear drinking beer were still lounging around the pool. No problem as such, but the bar itself doesn't allow too casually dressed people to enter. So you're not allowed to enter wearing sandals (at least according to the signs, we were dressed smart casual) but two meters besides you a guy is sitting in wet boxers sipping beer out of the bottle. Well. Food was very good (pizza and tapas). Ordered red wine (not such an unusual order in a tapas bar) and it came lukewarm as the outside temperature was around 30 degree. However, they took it back immediately and served it a bit chilled after we complained - no offense here. All in all a great place, they just have to figure out if they want to be a casual place or a bit more high end - it seems they don't know exactly which category they fit...

Messaged on Facebook a week ago and they said that we can walk-in. Reservations were never mentioned in our conversation but, when we arrived, staff was asking for our reservation number and a bit confused as to why we were there. After waiting for a few minutes, they told us that there are vacancies and we can proceed to the 18th flr. but each person must spend a minimum of 699 php. An order in their menu doesn't reach 699. We just want to grab a pizza or some tapas for quick-eats since we have a dinner at Ikinari Steak in the evening. Just want to eat here to kill time for maybe 30 mins. and see the sunset. Maybe a single order for each person is an acceptable deal since 699 php is a bad number for their menu (specially if the customer doesn't...

PROS: Nice Suset Review. Cool breeze on the rooftop makes the Manila heat less oppressive. Decent Menu of Western and Pinoy dishes at reasonable prices. Tasty woodfired-style pizzas.

CONS: 20 minute wait for 2 x beers despite plenty of staff on a Friday night. Could have walked behind bar and grabbed them myself. The idea of business is that you make the product easy for customers to buy. If a bar doesn't want to make money, then spend your $ at a place that serves you faster. Music soundtrack could be better. 70s Classics feel outdated. The band that came later was better. Not enough menus to go around - single sheet of laminated paper...
