Restauracja Chińska Yang Guang — Restaurant in Gdansk

I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience to help others avoid a potentially dangerous situation.

I always do due to a serious food allergy, I informed the restaurant multiple times, both when booking and again when ordering about my allergy to egg was assured by the staff that they understood and would take all necessary precautions.

Despite these reassurances, something went terribly wrong. After only a few bites of my meal, I began to feel the early symptoms of an allergic reaction. I immediately stopped eating and alerted the staff. While they expressed concern, it was clear that a breakdown in communication or protocol had occurred in the kitchen.

Thankfully, I was able to treat the reaction before it escalated to an emergency, but the situation was frightening and completely avoidable. I later confirmed that the dish I was served did, in fact, contain traces of the allergen I had clearly communicated to them multiple times.

Mistakes happen, but when it comes to food allergies, there is no room for error. Restaurants must take this responsibility seriously for the safety and trust of their patrons. I hope the management takes this incident as a wake-up call to retrain their staff and improve kitchen protocols.

We ordered Calamari as an appetizer. It looked, smelled and tasted awful. The funny thing was that it costs 46 PLN which was more expensive than most dinner items. We eat Calamari all the time in other places and this was something we’ve never experienced. The picture is posted below. You be the judge. We brought it up to the owner/chef’s attention (before touching it) but he said that he can’t do anything about it. Nice!!

BTW, the other item we ordered was a beef dish. The beef really tasted awkward. Later I see reviews where people are talking about experiencing fake beef in this restaurant.

My apologies for not noticing that someone from the restaurant management asked a question as to what was wrong with the picture of the calamari that was served to us? Please see attached picture what ‘normal calamari’ looks like. It has no dimples and looks safe for human...

Was here with the family, very good food.

Our service was great, however, I saw that two of the employees were annoyed when asked for something. Luckily this didnt happen us, however I saw it when a couple in front of us was served and I saw the expression on the employees face as she walked towards us.

The food was very good in my opinion, both the soup and the main course. My father, a very picky person however, thought his meal was overly salty and didn't eat his - I tasted it and completely disagree. I guess if you are very sensitive to salt, you might want to ask to make sure before ordering.

Location is also a huge plus, very nice and a lot of people that day. Overall...
