Nota Resto
Nota Resto offers an exceptional dining experience in the heart of Krakow. From the moment you step in, the staff greets you with warmth and hospitality, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a memorable meal.
One of the highlights of the experience is the presentation of the dishes, which are not only delicious but also visually stunning.
One subtle detail that was notably absent from our experience was any acknowledgment of the birthday celebration I had mentioned in my reservation email. While it didn't affect the quality of the food, it was a small accent that could have added a special touch to the evening.
The amuse-bouche, served with a tantalizing chive butter and lard foam alongside delicious bread sets the stage for what's to come. The mini pretzel particularly caught my attention.
„Tatar z polędwicy wołowej, marynaty, majonez truflowy, skorzonera” The beef tenderloin tartare, marinated and accompanied by truffle mayonnaise and salsify, was outstanding. The flavors were well-balanced, and I could only suggest adding a touch more of the truffle mayonnaise, which elevated the dish even further.
„Foie Gras Crème Brûlée, chałka dyniowa, chutney dyniowy” If you’re a foie gras lover don’t order that appetiser. The Foie Gras Crème Brûlée with pumpkin challah and pumpkin chutney left much to be desired. While it was reminiscent of a pumpkin crème brûlée, it lacked the essence of foie gras that one would expect. In my opinion, the foie gras at Cyrano remains unbeatable, giving the true experience of foie gras.
„Risotto dyniowe, łosoś marynowany” The pumpkin risotto with marinated salmon was certainly an intriguing choice for a main course. While the combination sounded promising, I found it to be slightly bland for my palate. However, there wasn't anything inherently wrong with the dish—it simply didn't align with my personal taste preferences. The unexpected sweetness of the sage was a surprising element , adding a unique twist to the overall flavor profile.
The duck breast with red cabbage lasagna and hibiscus was an absolute delight. The duck was flawlessly cooked—juicy and tender with a perfect medium-rare finish. Its pairing with the sweet hibiscus created a harmonious blend of flavors. The red cabbage lasagna was a delightful surprise, visually reminiscent of au gratin cooking style, which added an exceptionally interesting dimension to the dish.
To end the meal on a high note, I was pleasantly surprised by the Polish sparkling wine—a cuvée of Riesling, Pinot Noir and, if memory serves me right, Pinot Blanc. Made using the traditional Champagne method, the wine had a lively effervescence and a taste that was remarkably well-received for a Polish wine. Gost Art Brut, Winnica Gostchorze

Nota Resto by Tomasz Leśniak proved to be a delightful culinary experience during our recent visit to Kraków. From the moment we stepped in, we were enveloped in a quiet elegance, accentuated by the restaurant's stunning lighting. The atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion, yet welcoming to all.
Our meal began with the Oyster Le Gall, served with pickled cucumber, a refreshing start that awakened our palates. However, the true stars of the evening were the custom-made spicy prawn dish and the Beef Wellington. The prawn dish, prepared to our preferred Indian spice level, was nothing short of amazing. It was clear that the chef had taken great care in balancing the flavors, creating a dish that was both unique and unforgettable.
The Beef Wellington was a masterpiece. The perfectly cooked beef tenderloin, encased in a flaky, buttery pastry and accompanied by a rich mushroom duxelles, was simply divine. It truly made my taste buds explode with joy.
Beyond the exquisite cuisine, the service at Nota was impeccable. Our waitress, Ola (Alexandra), was an absolute gem. Her politeness, fluency in English, and willingness to explain every dish made our experience truly special. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening, and her attentiveness elevated our dining experience to a new level.
While Nota falls into the expensive price range, the quality of the food and service makes it worth every złoty. I wholeheartedly recommend Nota Resto by Tomasz Leśniak to anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience in Kraków. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic dinner, a family celebrating a special occasion, or a tourist eager to explore the city's culinary scene, Nota will not disappoint. We opted for the tasting menu paired with a carefully curated selection of wines, and we were thoroughly impressed by both the quality and creativity of the dishes. The "farm to table" freshness was evident in every bite, and the innovative flavors and presentations added to the overall experience.
The meal began with a trio of amuse-bouche, expertly crafted by the chef, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. The Beef Limousine tenderloin tartare was a highlight, with the Worchester egg yolk and pickled mushrooms adding depth and complexity. The Zurek on smoked ribs was rich and flavorful, with a delightful croquet featuring a quail egg and smoked meat. The Pierogi with pulled pork neck was a nod to traditional Cracovian cuisine, yet elevated with a caraway sauce that tied the dish together beautifully.
The Lamb hip served as the main course was tender and well-balanced, accompanied by a cabbage and potato roll that offered a comforting blend of textures and flavors. The eggplant mousse and dukkah added a unique touch, making this dish a standout.
The pre-dessert of ice cream stones with blueberry crumble and cotton candy was playful and refreshing, providing a perfect segue to the final selection of petit fours.
Overall, the tasting menu at Nota Resto is a culinary journey that delights the senses. The wine pairing was thoughtfully selected, complementing each course perfectly. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a sophisticated dining experience with a focus on fresh, local ingredients and innovative cuisine.
