Is it worth a visit? Yes it definitely is. Ok so this was the second attempt at dining here, so I do advise making a booking. We were greeted at the door this evening and thankfully they had a no show so were offered a lovely table for two at the window near the back. On sitting down complimentary prawn crackers and an infused chilli dip was laid before us. These were possibly the best I have ever tried, including those in Thailand itself. They were so good I had no issues in doing an Oliver Twist and asking for more please. We only had soft drinks as sadly with it being a Sunday night their three for two cocktails only run Monday to Thursday. I ordered a new dish which consisted of three very large and complete with head and tail prawn on a bed of crispy noodles and what I think we’re actually bay leaf’s. The sauce being a red Thai curry style which was very tasty, strong coconut and subtle chilli hit. I would go back for this dish alone, although sadly it lacked in the amount of noodles that come on your plate. It was closer to a starter size dish. My wife had a chicken and cashew dish with sticky rice which was also outstanding, although very strongly infused with garlic. Overall the food taste and quality is a solid 5/5, dish size 4/5 and service was 5/5 from all the staff. Sadly I have only scored an overall 4 stars as the toilets downstairs were absolutely disgusting and the smell was so pungent I swear it’s still on my clothes. This being in very close proximity to the kitchen. I am just pleased I had eaten before experiencing this or I would have walked out, yes it was that bad ! Taj this really did spoil what would have been a 5 star review. Food and service is absolutely brilliant, but when toilets are dirty and smell like that (honestly it was the worst smell) it draws concern on hygiene of the...
Read moreWe often went to the "Taj" Restaurant at the Miodowa street in Kazimierz. It is our favorite Asian Restaurant in Cracow. Since we heard that a new location opened which is closer to the main square, we wanted to try it. First of all the quality of the food was as always superb. Very tasty, good ingredients and spice. My negative experience started with the service. We both ordered a beer. The waiter overhead my girlfriend asking me, if I really want to order a beer, since I am driving later. I said it's fine, I wouldn't drive for at least the next 3 hours and I am still within the legal boundaries with this amount either way. 5 minutes later the waiter brings one beer. I was a bit confused, but we thought, he is just going for the other one. Another 10 minutes later I still didn't get my drink. We asked the same waiter for the order. He replied he wouldn't sell me a beer since I am driving. My jaw dropped to the floor. First of all to have the audacity to just "not take my order" and don't even ask me if I would like something else, instead just ignoring my demand and secondly refusing my order even though I take full responsibility for what I'm doing. A waiter should never patronize a customer's decision like this. It was absolutely unacceptable behavior. I'd accept a friendly recommendation, but not this kind of involvement of a stranger. The 3 star rating is solely due to the food. It's a pitty how the service can ruin an overall nice experience. We will not come back to this location anytime soon. Things like this never happened in the...
Read moreIf you want Thai food, or spicy the least, this is not the place to go. Tom yum tasted to under seasoned rosół; it was sent to add some seasoning but return just same way, so we believe for a split second we both catch COVID at the same time but that was before the sweet and spicy chicken gave me a rush of sweet to the brain, like eatings from a honey pot with sprinkles of chicken cutter in cubes. So, hey! We were having a terrible dinner but at least we were healthy! :D The cocktail...well that was a good lemonade. As for the service, the guy "behind the screen" always dressed in a suit (not that I was expecting him to change during the night) was so apathic in the single one interaction we had. He should understand that with the level of sweetness one gotta ask for something more to drink, please! Water! The waiter, who suddenly was annoyed at us for asking to please split the bill in two equal parts like if we have asked him to solve a highly complex mathematical equation, wait! It was probably a highly complex mathematical equation, how could I know? At the end I wasn't the one who wanted to split the bill! :D Those 145.00zl per person were just a money...
