I'm starting to wonder if maybe I just don't understand how bars are considered for the 50 Best Bars list. My experience at TAG wouldn't even place it in the top 100 bars I've been to in my life.
Completely disinterested service, inaccurate menu, basic tasting and presented cocktails, typical decor. There's nothing that stood out as a reason for such rave reviews. Even just one of these being a memorable or outstanding positive would make the kudos make sense.
The menu seems really fantastic on paper and I loved the design of it. It was especially helpful by suggesting which classic cocktails are most similar. I saw so many options I guessed I would enjoy. Sadly, after the first was so disappointing and the service so dismissive, we ultimately decided our money and time would be better spent somewhere that appreciates it.
I ordered the Bison Grass. By the name and description, you'd think some bison grass would be involved. Nope. I was excited by the idea of the fernet in a daiquiri riff as well. Whatever I got was completely lacking in any complexity, herbalness, or interest. It didn't look anything like the menu illustration either. Not a hint of grass to be found, but for some reason a sad mint leaf drowning on top.
The bartenders seemed totally disinterested in our presence or enjoyment. But it wasn't only us. Nobody else there got much attention at all, and it was half-full at best. I felt like they really didn't want me there and that's not a great feeling. Normally we get on well with bar staff, even in Poland where they are not known for attentive or pleasant service.
It was just a very boring experience overall.
The decor is fine, but odd. Like is it supposed to be some clever juxtaposition of modern "street art" with vintage jazz club? I don't get it. It seemed confused to me.
This place seems completely overhyped for what you actually get. I expected more with the buzz and...
Read moreSo, my girlfriend and I checked out this awesome spot called TAG | cocktail bar in Krakow, and let me tell you, it was amazing!
The whole place felt like stepping into an art gallery, with cool vibes and comfy chairs to chill in while sipping on delicious cocktails. The bartenders were super friendly, and they really knew their stuff. Plus, they chilled all their cups, which was a neat touch.
But the best part? The ice in my Old Fashion was crystal clear and made our cocktails taste even better. The decor was beautiful too – it really added to the whole experience.
Finding the place was a bit of an adventure, but it was totally worth it. We didn’t know what to expect, but TAG Bar exceeded all our expectations.
It’s sad to hear that they might be closing at the end of April. This was definitely one of our favorite bars in Krakow, and we’re going to miss it a lot.
Overall, we had an amazing time at TAG Bar, and we’ll definitely cherish the memories we made there.
I hope you like it! If you need any changes, feel free to...
Read moreReally liked this place, the decor and concept have had some serious work put into them, it's hidden away much like all the best cocktail bars in Kraków, with just one door onto the street, but inside you'll instantly be glad you checked the place out
Every cocktail I tried (I had 4) was incredibly balanced in flavour, you might expect one to go too acidic or too bitter based on the flavours, but they've thought it through well. The menu concept with graffiti art and then UV light words is very cool, and I really enjoyed meeting my server, I didn't get her name but she does the photography there too, so we geeked out a little over photography, as I do the same thing.
Really pleasant place to be as a solo traveller, couldn't...
