We decided to have an early dinner there because the restaurant looked quite inviting and it had very good online opinions. Although the waiter was very friendly, the service was very very slow. We were one of the first guests and we order two very very simple dishes. The second dish was served over half an hour later and over 10 minutes after the first dish. They didn't use a printed menu, just had a list of dishes written on a blackboard on the wall. Not all of them very available. There were no more than 8-10 options available and we and the people around us ended up eating the same two dishes. One of the dishes we ordered was ovos rotos com presunto. It's one of the simplest dishes in the world. For this dish to be tasty, you need to use real potatoes. Unfortunately, the restaurant uses frozen crinkle cut fries. The other dish was a Portuguese classic: bacalhau à Brás. It took over 30 minutes to arrive even though you just need to fry everything in a pan. The quality was OK. You can it eat and forget it...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem. We decided to stop by for lunch on a whim and could not have made a better decision. It is a family owned restaurant with a nice atmosphere and a charming setting. We could not believe the amazing value for their excellent home-made food. Highly recommend the “executive lunch option”, which is a three course meal with drinks and coffee, for only 11€! We really liked everything they had at the time - soups, main courses, and desserts. Probably the best meal we had during our week long trip in Portugal. Also, the best white wine sangria and very friendly owners. Highly recommend stopping by if you are...
Read moreA cute little restaurant with examples of the best authentic Portuguese food. We had risotto with spinach and chestnuts, as well as pork with chestnuts for dinner. Both were amazing. Especially pork was the best meat I have eaten in 10 days. Before this dinner, we had been served terrible beef and pork steaks at several fancy looking tourist traps. I was beginning to think that Portuguese don’t know how to cook meat but this restaurant saved the reputation of the Portuguese food for me. Did I mention puding is a must try? Owned and operated by two professional women who quit their day jobs and opened this restaurant...
