As an Armenian, finding a restaurant abroad that truly captures the spirit of our homeland is rare — but Ararate in Lisbon does exactly that. From the first moment, I felt a familiar warmth: the aroma of grilled meats, fresh herbs, and the sound of Armenian music in the background.
We ordered jibgyalov hac, filled with fresh greens just like in Artsakh — light, crispy, and full of life. The eggplants were smoky and tender, bursting with that deep flavor every Armenian knows. Then came the khorovats lamb kebab — perfectly grilled, juicy, and seasoned just right. But the true masterpiece was the khurjin lamb — tender meat wrapped in thin bread, rich with spices and aroma, reminding me of family dinners back home.
To complete everything, a glass of Yerevan wine — deep, elegant, and proudly Armenian — made the evening perfect.

Read moreVery good food, we were 2 and ate the following: As a starter some meat wrapped with leafs and some kind of dumplings. Then one plate with cooked vegetables and 2 kebab (one with meat and another with mushrooms). To drink, one cup of house wine, one beer and one tea (the tea I didn't like). As dessert we shared a cooked peer. It was on Friday and it was very crowded. I liked some decoration inside and the cookers seemed to know very well the traditional plates. Another issue was the noise, it didn't have any noise isolation and tables were very crowded, even though I had my own table, I felt I was sharing it. Last thing I didn't like were the tables and chairs, too unconfortable, made up of very heavy wood it hurt my back afterwards and the table was always moving. To summarize, I believe to classify as a luxury restaurant it should apply some changes. However, I believe is a cool restaurant to try at least once if u like the...
