I don’t recommend this restaurant. We were waiting for 1 hour and they didn’t bring any food or drink even though we already ordered. Then we need to ask the waiter to check for it but she never came back to give us an answer. Finally what we heard from the restaurant’s manager was that they had some problems with the tablet so our order was not processed. The point is they have many staffs but no one was approaching us to confirm our order during 1 hour without anything on the table. Due to the Covid19, all the restaurants must close at 13pm and we just only got known about their mistakes at about 12h40. This was very annoying. To be honest, the principle thing which make this restaurant crowded is the nice place (they have a beautiful esplanade at the Praça do Comércio). Because of that, somehow they don’t think that it is necessary to improve their client service. When I complained directly to the manager, she insisted that It was not about their service, only about the technical error. This kind of situation sometimes happended to me in other restaurants but I never got that angry cuz the staffs often came to confirm if we have food yet or to explain why our order comes late and gave us some small discounts at the end. Time is precious so please don’t waste people’s time, especially when they are your clients. They may choose to consume at your restaurant because of some attractive superficial aspects but they surely never want...
Read moreThis review should have been done a few weeks back, no thanks to my phone service. Apologies to all those people who contributed to awesome dining experiences on two nights at Can the Can (Lisboa) on 17 Sep 23 and 7 Oct 23. We could have sat outside in the Square in pleasant temperatures with an accompanying breeze. Instead, we chose to sit inside this funky and inviting restaurant with its elegant, unique and quirky interior design which creates an entirely different atmosphere to that experienced outside. On both occasions we were made welcome, given excellent service, well fed (…for me, the bacalhau with chick pea purée was outstanding, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their menu choices. The selection of wine and port was equally diverse, complimenting the menu). The staff were totally au fait with the menu and were both professional and personable, happy to attend to our requirements and laugh with us. It wouldn’t be right to praise one or two individuals, so…..to : Diogo, Terese, Leticia, Daniel, Rafael, Fernanda, Anthony, Afac and Puloc….. thanks for looking after us so well- you turned both nights into special occasions. We commend the staff, and recommend this restaurant to visitors to Lisbon.
Thanks again to all, hope you remember this small Australian bunch....
Read moreThis restaurant owner should be ashamed of their practices. The food is expensive, but that is fine as we are tourists. The problem is it’s not very good. Calamari was not hot, cod was tasteless. Cheese bruschetta had almost no cheese and the chicken confit was so dry that it was nearly impossible to chew.
Now here is the kicker… For the entire meal they have a designated employee try to hard-sell there products. He started pitching their tincture bottled sources prior to our cocktails and this lasted until we paid our bill. Ick, who wants that! And this is not the typical Lisbon way of enjoying a meal out. We couldn’t wait to leave. It is a lovely location and too bad it is spoiled by a greedy business owner.
To finish off our experience, the ladies were yelled at when attempting to use the restroom, because they didn’t believe they had ate there. We were one of only four tables seated fir lunch. Maybe it’s no surprise to even the employees that anyone...
