Brunch Café — Restaurant in Lisbon

It’s quite a challenge to get everything right, but even harder to get everything wrong.

I don’t know why the high ratings, but I guess it’s the typical hipster place getting good ratings because of that. Arrived with my girlfriend, we ordered a sunny days smoothie, water, orange juice and a cappuccino. We asked if it would be better to order the second one later if we doesn’t want it at the same time as juice, she said she’ll just write it down bring it after we finished the drinks.

After about 5 minutes we get the smoothie alone very highly artificially sweetened. About 5 minutes later another couple sits next to us, wait 10 more minutes they get water coffee and green orange juice. Looking around all the orange juice is green, you’ll get better juice at the dispensary in the supermarket. I ask the waitress about it because my girlfriend had to take some meds and she says she forgot but will bring them right out. 10 minutes later we get the rest of the drinks, both coffees included.

At this point we have a stack of all the used cups plates and cutlery on the side of the little table which accompanied us until the end of our visit. We wait about 30 minutes longer hoping at least the food will be amazing but eggs benedict are overcooked (literally hard) and the tomato sauce is undercooked. While waiting we ordered an americano because the cappuccino was highly sweetened as well but by the end of the meal we gave up on that.

Bill comes, it’s the same amount as the amazing dinner last night with shrimp fish and wine (at Artis). There are great restaurants in Lisbon, do yourself a favor...

I came to the brunch Café because all of the reviews were very good. Unfortunately when we got there the place was empty. The waitress was very friendly. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken tasted like it was straight out of the freezer and the waffles straight from a packet he couldn't even eat it. I ordered the chicken toastie and pancakes none of the ingredients where fresh at all pancakes are definitely packet bought they were stuck in my gut all day. Very bad experience 43 euro down the toilet. There is definitely something dubious with all these good reviews this is a scam. The waitress was not bothered at all about the feedback we gave her. Wonderful place to eat brekky lunch or dinner! Great staff who will tender to your individual needs. I’m celiac! We were always made feel welcome and were not disappointed once by anything we ordered…even though I was tired and grumpy when we first came in. My favorite was the fruit salad which was a monumental bowl of delicately placed fruit. My hub loved the pancakes, egg and bacon. Lunch, garlic prawns a must. We watched a group of Latinos literally dance over their brunch yesterday. Great place in a great central location without the “you’re a tourist attitude”. I review all good and bad and in between. This is an excellent choice if looking for light hearted atmosphere...
