Terra Nova by Populi — Restaurant in Lisbon

Wish I could give zero stars but I sat there for a while waiting for service. Eventually when the hostess came to ask if I ordered I said nope. No one came to me. She took my order. My food & drink were served later. NOT ONCE did anyone ever return to ask if I needed another drink, dessert, the check. Nothing. I sat there cause I had the time & waited thinking this is insane. It can't be real. Eventually they started packing up the chairs & tables & still. No one came. They walked by me all the time - Never asking anything or checking in. I got up and went to the front desk & had to demand the check so I can leave. (Even at that point I had to wait til someone eventually noticed me) not a good experience at all. Service was definitely out of order. Unfortunately I was the only POC in the outdoor dining area & the only one facing this problem from what I saw. Take from that...

Place has a good potential, my wife was excited to have a tuna tataki and we went there. It was afternoon ~17:00 and the sun reflection on the praça do comércio was making seating outside impossible due to the heat. We went inside and a nice breeze was blowing. We asked the waiter (in portuguese) if we could seat inside and he didn't answer. The guy in the balcony then asked in English if he could help us. We said: we would like to have a seat and he said that it could only be outside. We replied that outside was very hot and we would like to seat inside. Unbelievably, he replied that it was not! Pretty good answer for someone sitting inside the place. I would never ruin my dinner experience by doing it feeling hot. Politely, we left and looked for another place willing to have us as customers. 1 star for not speaking portuguese in Portugal and not willing to...

I've traveled solo many times, but one time of the year I avoided had always been during the New Year, as it can get crowded and just overwhelming everywhere you go. I decided to go to Lisbon just to try it out and found this restaurant that was offering a NYE dinner set. Joana was very informative and helped me with the process of booking every step of the way. I arrived to find a nice organized table just for me. The staffs and owner of the restaurant were amazing and lovely and just absolutely the sweetest people. I couldn't be more grateful to have such people around me while welcoming in the New Year. The food was great and the unlimited wine that was going around was obviously the best too and the live music, LOVE. I absolutely would love to visit again and just want to say a big thank you for the great night you all...
