After craving hummus for a few days, we found the most recommended middle eastern place near us.
We did not have a reservation but they took us quickly and arranged a table for us. We ordered hummus with pita, falafel, chicken wing and the spicy potatoes. The hummus was just a bowl of hummus, I was surprised that it did not come with bread or chips for dipping and this had to be ordered separately. The hummus was creamy and smooth but lacked acidity. The falafel was served with chopped turnip, tomatoes and green onions served on tahini sauce. The falafel tasted like I was back in the Middle East- I have only had falafel this good one other time in my life. The chicken wings came with 9 wings marinated and cooked to perfection. They had a bit of a bite to them but were flavourful and soft but crispy. Delicious! The spicy potatoes were not spicy, but left dancing lightly on your tongue. The flavour of the potatoes was spectacular!!
The service was great, the waitress was friendly and answered my questions easily (even double checked a few things to be 100% sure- which I appreciate so much!!). The service was quick and attentive.
The atmosphere was tight and a little cramped, tables very close together and I felt like I was eating in a cafeteria, a bit too close to my stranger friends. The building long and narrow, which made this difficult during layout I am sure, but to get to the bathrooms, you have to side step and make sure nobody else is in that area.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food but for the price, I feel like the serving sizes should have been bigger. The quality unfortunately did not compensate for the quantity of the dishes. I would recommend this place to people who don’t mind over paying for good food but I would not return as this...
Read moreA True Culinary Gem in Lisbon – Citron (Lebanese Cuisine)
As a devoted food aficionado who treasures the respect of original recipes, I can say without hesitation that Citron has been one of my most memorable dining experiences in Lisbon. Every single dish I tasted radiated Lebanese authenticity, precision, and a deep respect for culinary tradition. The flavors transported me straight to my mother and my grandmother’s tables — not a hint of compromise, only genuine craftsmanship on the plate.
The hummus was a revelation: luxuriously creamy, with a perfect balance of tahini, lemon, and seasoning that danced on the palate. The fried kebbeh was nothing short of extraordinary — crisp on the outside, with thin delicate walls and a perfectly seasoned inside, and without question one of the best I have ever tasted in my life. The stuffed vine leaves were flawlessly executed, each bite offering that delicate tang and fragrance that only comes from proper technique and top-quality ingredients.
And these were just my standouts among a long parade of beautifully prepared dishes — far too many to list, each one crafted with care, skill, and an evident love for Lebanese cuisine. The ingredients spoke for themselves: fresh, vibrant, and chosen with discernment.
Citron is not simply a Lebanese restaurant; it is a celebration of authenticity, where culinary heritage is honored and elevated. For anyone who values the true essence of a dish and the integrity of its preparation, this place is a must-visit. I left not just satisfied,...

We ordered the following items: Hummus Fatoush Kibbeh Falafel Plate
The hummus; although it was silky smooth, it lacked flavor, specifically Tahini flavor. In fact, I didn't taste any hint of Tahini.
The Fatoush lacked most of the ingredients that make Fatoush, such as: cucumber, red onions, parsley, and mint. This Fatoush had lettuce, radishes, and few leaves of purslane.
The kibbeh was the only item that tasted similar to what you can find in Lebanon.
The Falafel lacked some serious flavors, such as cilantro, cumin, garlic, salt & pepper.
Now, to make things worse, we were asked if we want "bread" with the hummus... hello, this is a "given" who serves Hummus without bread. The four pieces of bread that make one loaf is €2... this is outrageous and price gouging.
Our server was polite and attentive.
The ambiance is casual and comfortable, but nothing extraordinary!
All in all, this eatery is definitely overpriced, and the flavors are not...
