Guilty by Olivier, Parque das Nações — Restaurant in Lisbon

Stopped in for a quick bite before heading to the airport. Coming at lunch time, the restaurant was a little busy so the few minute wait was understandable. The host didn't seem very warm in her greeting to us, although that is subjective.

A QR code at the table is available to scan and view the menu online as there are no physical menus provided.

We ordered the vegetarian burger with sweet potatoes fries and a bacon cheese burger 🍔 with regular (russet) fries🍟 The burger had the center of the top bun punched out to access the egg on the top of the burger, or for unnecessary marketing purposes, which some may consider tacky. The attempt at the veggie burger was valiant, the breaded mushroom was tasty but unfortunately it had an obsene amount of cheese which overshadowed the burger itself. The bacon burger was good (you do have an option for how the meat is cooked) although the structurally compromised bun (I can't believe I'm writing this🤣🤣 ) did in fact make the burger more difficult to eat without spilling/ having the ingredients slide out. The fries were both cooked fine but were not special in taste. *I always feel your sides should attempt to compete or keep up with the main portion of the dish so you think Wow - that whole meal was amazing- sides included imo. The dipping sauce for the fries was very good.

Overall price is expensive for burgers with fries, but they are in the business district and are obviously adding frills I.e for the stamped name on the burger, DJ playing music so this may help them justify the cost. About 20+ Euros per person with sparkling water. We had the choice to stay or leave- keep that in mind.

My experience at Guilty by Olivier left much to be desired. Despite the decent quality of the food, I couldn’t shake the feeling that my money wasn’t well spent.

Firstly, there were issues with our orders. My boyfriend’s meal was incomplete, as the meatballs were forgotten. When we notified the issue and the meatballs arrived, the pasta was cold, resulting in a less than satisfactory dining experience.

The manager’s attempt to convince us that that hard, dry, flat dough was focaccia was particularly disappointing and misleading. The long wait times to receive a menu QR code, place orders, and have them delivered only added to the frustration.

Despite ordering upon arrival, our drinks took an unacceptable amount of time to be served. Even after my mums ordered theirs, we still found ourselves waiting longer than them. We are talking about waiting almost 40 minutes without drinks.

But what truly shocked and disappointed me was the lack of accountability from the manager. Instead of addressing the issues, they attempted to gaslight me by suggesting it was my fault for not specifying anything in the booking notes.

It’s worth noting that the apparent lack of staff on hand does not excuse the lack of consideration or accountability from the manager. Despite any challenges faced, customers still deserve a basic level of service and professionalism.

Overall, I cannot recommend Guilty by Olivier. Considering my experience and the recurring issues highlighted in other reviews, it’s evident that poor service is not an isolated incident at this establishment. We had a terrible experience at Guilty by Olivia in Lisbon. We had a slight indication it was going to be busy but we were willing to try our luck. When we arrived, there was no one at the door to greet us, all the servers were rushing around busy, seemed under staffed and eventually we were advised to sit at the bar for 20mins so that we could be offered to a table after. Although the cocktails were nice, the service was rushed off their feet. We waited at the bar for over an hour and the very same waiter who told us 20mins, now refused to give us eye contact. Multiple groups were seated at the bar after us and given tables before us. At this point, we felt that it was now due to racial profiling and felt extremely uncomfortable here. After another 15mins we left after deciding not to spend anymore money at this establishment. I would advise anyone that is Black or ethnic minority to steer clear of this place as you will be made to feel uncomfortable and charged a premium for it. It almost...
